I think that mainstream rock met its downfall with Korn, the creators of nu metal.

I wouldn't really call Rage nu metal. They're more of a rapcore/alt rock band. Also, they didn't form until the early nineties. Zack had a few underground punk bands that he fronted, if that's what you're thinking.

Saying Nu-metal on the whole is good and fake music is entirely bad creates an overlapping conflict in the criteria which defines both.

Saying Nu-metal on the whole is good and fake music is entirely bad creates an overlapping conflict in the criteria which defines both. when I say fake music I mean artists who dont write theyer own meterial or are in it for the wrong reasons. as far as rap and nu metal goes by the defenition of Music most rap is missing the crusial third element to be considered music and what sets nu metal apart is that it is rap with a heavier More metal edge withc I like and envolves the missing third element. Rap metal and nu metal are two different things, although most of each suck. Nu metal is more like Slipknot, Korn, Linkin Park, etc.

I think it's more that rap metal is a sub-genre of nu metal. Also, don't even put Rage Against the Machine and Korn in the same sentence.
Rage=god
Korn=garbage
