If you think about it, Balto is popular. look at all these members. There is,7918 of us here. Considering, there is lion king fans here aswell, I'm sure most of us, like both films. When Balto, was released, Universal did nothing to help it sell. They sat on their behinds and collected the money.

Basically, The Lion King killed Balto. TLK became a standard after it's release, so anything else done in a traditional way (Hand drawn animation) no matter what company it came from would be slated because it's not as good as the Lion King. Which is a stupid thing really.

Balto would have faired better if it was made many years before TLK, but being realesed along side Toy Story didn't help much either.

It's all Universal's fault!! :wangry: If they actually care about Balto then maybe Balto would have been popular, but instead they just do nothing!! pissedoff.gif

I've always thought that if they had delayed the film by a few months, it would have fared much better. If they had released it the following February or March, not only would the hubbub from Toy Story have died down, it would also have been released in time for the real Iditarod. Wouldn't that be better?

Balto isn't as popular because Universal didn't advertise it well and "Toy Story" came out a month earlier than Balto and was still in theaters when Balto came out so everybody when out to see Toy Story instead of Balto
