*nods* Other fandoms have had this problem as well (most notably the Spirit/Horse fandom), where most use a lineart. If the lineart is actually stolen from the movie, the entire fandom explodes. It was a fairly recent incident on deviantArt, of which you may or not be aware. Some artists actually find themselves being forced to draw linearts for otherwise lazy individuals. I can see if you want to use a lineart to make your character look flashy/professional and easy for others to draw, but to use it for everything is just overkill.

I would think moving the colored in line-arts into the fan images section would make more sense, unless the lineart was made for a specific person or persons/select group (like for a contest or something), in which case it would be a collab. This way we could knock out another issue - being the Paint 'renders' over screencaps - out almost completely. But that would be up to the fanart mods.

I love the people who actually made lineart popular because they are good at it like Cat, and Deni. But that dosnt mean you can take every single one of them and color and post it all the time. Cat and Deni plus others, made those so you could use them not misuse them. I think it is alright if you post up a few then get back to your own art, then maybe a while later you see another one that you like, then you can color and post it up. You see what i mean? Not being so obnoxious and just posting line art, its called an art gallery for a reason people.

Excellent topic, recolors are certainly annoying to me but I see them as more of a way for people without drawing talent to express themselves. However when someone does it for praise or rewards it's another story.

I think about 90% of these people do it for praise.

While I don't mind seeing people use lineart (I'm at blame here 'cause I also use lineart once in a while), it gets annoying when I go to these galleries and they are filled with lineart! Lineart maybe used once in a while combined with the person's drawings are fine but a whole gallery? They don't even try, they're lazy (again, I can't say much myself. I also use lineart when I'm lazy), but they should try at least drawing, despite them claiming they can't. Practice makes perfect.

ive seen lots of lineart in a few galleries by many different members, especially drawn by catwhohas14tails. all the person did was get cat's lineart(the same pic) and color it five different ways to represent each of their characters.
