They get praised enough as it is, and most are often too lazy to take that into account and/or see it as flaming.

The problem is, some people DO make good renders, so it's at the same time it's a shame to forbid them entirely. So if I made a rule, that would be : "Bad renders are not allowed", but how to define "bad"? If someone has an idea... Otherwise, I would have to put "quotas" on how many are acceptable in a gallery. Maybe a basic quality of renders could be accepted. Something along the lines of these : 1. If the the render are too squiggly and aren't done neatly (By squiggly I mean that the lines are incredibly far from what they should be) 2. If the render is done so messily that the moderators cannot tell what it is 3. If it shows terribly that no effort was put into the render I'll edit my post if I think of more "requirements". there already is such a rule, although poorly implemented There is no rendering rule, as Steet already pointed out. I can assume there will be one soon, but there isn't now. As for mods having to be "stricter" or "implement rules" more, well then, there's the problem: there is none. There is no rule which defines "bad renders" or "no renders", so it cannot be acted upon. Besides, it is very hard to define "bad", because this site contains members of different artistic levels and experience, usually correlated directly with age. As to the topic: I agree as well. The Fan Image section should really have more icons, computerware, badges, desktops, etc etc. By creating a scale of "badness" however would fail dramatically. The right thing to regulate the amounts of renders and therefore the amounts of "sloppy" and "bad" renders would be to assign a specific fraction of the gallery/number of direct plain renders one can have. This way not only would there be less of them, but: A) Members would pick out their best renders to submit in order to make most of the limits they are given; B) Members would be more tempted to do something other than renders, which would/could richen the sites' fanwork aspect.

Then what does this mean That refers to copyright and generalizes what the Image gallery is for. It does not say "how bad they can be and what bad is". That's the problem. I see what you're getting at, and I agree, the rules really have to be tweaked. What would you suggest?

Yupik wrote: I would think of it as selfish if the moderators did not accept renders because they were sloppy. I agree. If you go through deleting or not accepting renders because they are bad then what about fan pictures or even videos? Does this mean that if the pictures or videos aren't very good they won't be accepted because of this? I don't think so. I know fan images should be more for signautures, avatar's etc: but renders are a way for non-artists to express themselves and be able to show off characters they have created. So what I say is how can you have one rule for fan images saying "that if it's not good it's not accepted" but not for other things like fan pictures? Renders are just like pictures in the manner that people improve over time, and you see it in pictures as some drawers get better and better but you don't go telling them in their early stages of learning to draw 'oh that picture you drew is bad i'm not going to accept it.' do you? Then why should you for fan images?

uggh, i SO agree. i see so many people that do REALLY crappy jobs by just painting over the images, that's not "rendering", it's called "poor editing skills" . for example, i have quite a few renders in my gallery, yet i'm sure mine aren't like this, as i use PhotoFiltre and get commented all the time. although there is a rule for just "painting" the images and sending them in as "renders", it isn't enforced. i almost always see these gallerys while browsing, and when i scroll down to faves, they have VERY many times favorited, leading me to believe that the people told EVERYONE they know to go to thier gallery and favorite them. then, when the people see i horrible the "renders" are they feel bad and favorite right away. for example, a recent render in my gallery (does anyone but me see the difference?); a render in my gallery a "render" from an "anonymous" user's gallery (not meant to be mean, and i HAVE seen worse renders)

I like it. The other one is...Well...Scary thanks, it really means a lot, i had entered that one into a contest for steele's girlfriend. i dont want to say tha the other one is "scary" becuase i'm afraid that it might belong to a littler kid, who happened to think it was great. i just dont think that it should have been accepted on the site.
