That doesn't change the fact that you keep arguing your point in an unrelenting way. You don't even want to consider the fact that someone else might also be right. But that's not the point of this discussion, so please, once again, let's get back to discussing what dead languages we would really like to learn instead of arguing/disagreeing on what determines whether a language is dead or not.

You don't even want to consider the fact that someone else might also be right. That is an unfounded accusation. Every post I placed has documentation to back up what I've been trying to say. As a moderator, you also have a responsibility to analyze and make an informed decision...not just slap people on the wrist because you don't happen to like what you're seeing. Nothing I said consitutes what you accused me of. I expect that you'd take greater care to understand the difference. I did analyze everything you said. Yes, you had documentation, but sometimes documentation doesn't mean much of anything, especially if it comes from an unreliable source, such as wikipedia (and yes, though widely used, it is considered by researchers and college professors, deans, etc. to be unreliable.) At any rate, once again, that's not the point. You're still arguing for no reason. Whether a language is dead or not is not what this topic is about. I'm not slapping you around, but you have to realize, not everything is meant to be against you. I'm trying to gently get you to see that you're retaliating needlessly. Maybe you're right, maybe I'm right, maybe the golden retriever at my grandmother's house is right. That doesn't really matter. We're all still off topic. Now, for the final time before I alert a forum mod for this section, let's please drop this and get back on topic.

For most people the definition of a dead language is a language that is no longer being used in the mainstream of any one population, one that has no new words being added into the total vocabulary. Many dead languages are used by various sects, groups, and religious organizations, but they are for all intensive purposes - dead. As someone interested in languages - no matter what their status - yeah, I'd love to become fluent in a dead language. I have near fluency in German, know enough Mandarin Chinese to get by in Beijing, also pretty well versed in French, and know a few words/phrases in Japanese, Spanish, and Lakota/Dakota, as well as several phrases of the dead language Latin - one of my innate talents, really I also want to learn Irish Gaelic, Polish, Bulgarian, Romanian, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Czech, Russian, Urdu, Jamaican, Farsi, Arabic, Indonesian, Slovenian, Korean, and Italian - some of which I do know a few words of (though most I have forgotten honestly). And just for your information, the formerly extinct languages of native North and South America are making a comeback (yay!) - though usually only on reservations, those who associate with members of those tribes, as well as those taking the classes for college credit (again, only through tribal association, tribal member volunteering, or good tribal/school relationship). Anyway, I'd love to learn Egyptian, Sanskrit, Greek as well as the most ancient dead languages that the species haven't spoken in hundreds of thousands of years - besides those that are growing and changing. It would be cool to know what those in Ice Age Europe spoke like, and even earlier. As someone who is into languages - living/pidgin/dead - it's really cool to see how interconnected the whole of humanity is. And that's my two cents.

It's considered a dead language by Ara's explanation, but I'm well versed in Autoese. And if you have to ask what that is, then well...I dunno, you don't know what it means XD Basically, it's the language of cars, mechanics specifically. Only wrenchheads and pro mechanics, and few assorted individuals know it. And no, just because you know how to change your oil, or put in spark plugs, doesn't mean you can understand it. My shop teacher taught me that. I should visit him sometime *rambles away*

I learn Latin. I don't like it at all.
At school I already learn English and German. And next year, I'll learn Italian and Chinese too. I asked my teachers to learn all this languages. But for Latin, I didn't want to. I was obliged to. Well. I thought that could be good for me, since I liked languages. But in fact I hate it, I spend most of the time dreaming, chatting... None of my friends speaks Latin, why should I learn it? XD However many people I know only speaks English. So I'm satisfied to learn English, and disappointed to have to learn a dead language.
But anyway, Latin is quite beautiful =3

I'd learn any language, especially dead ones. It would kind of be like a rare language. Crowd: Ooo... Ahh...
