But adding Steele would have probably made the scenario fully different. They couldn't have added Steele by just replacing him with Niju.

well..i liked all the characters but i would make the end part longer..like what happens to aleu when she gets to other side and how balto makes it home...also i would change some of the musics...
but this was just my opinion...

Niju, in my opinion, was a waste of animation.
Personally, I would like to have seen Steele's reaction to Balto and Jenna having pups. And who knows, that might make a whole new (maybe even better) plot.
Anyway, get rid of:
1) Muk and Luk
2) The singing
3) The random scottie dog
And more of:
1) Balto
2) Jenna
3) the rest of the pups
(And maybe Borris in there for comedic relief.)

This is what I'd do,
- Spend less time on Aleu and Balto's journey till they reach the wolf pack, as in no muru, bear attack, wolerines etc:
- Give Niju more of a story other than just 'oh yeah and he's evil because well he is' character
- Give Aleu time to spend with the pack (maybe flesh out a few wolf cameo's in the pack ie: names, personality) so she can see how they live and so she knows what she wants.
- No singing, no songs.
- Right at the end we actually see Aleu and the other wolves reach the promised land even if its just before the credits so we know they made it.
- No muk and luk
- More Jenna

First of all I'd take away all the 'magic-y' (you would believe I just spelled magic with a 'j' o_0) stuff in the movie. I mean, the original was based on a true story!

- X out the unnecessary characters (the yipping scottie, the wolf trio, Muk and Luk . . . need I say more?)

- Add Balto's return home (what really happened? Jenna/Boris/Muk and Luk's reaction to the news? etc.)

- . . . um more explanation about Aniu (Was Aniu really the WW from the original movie? Why is she so close to Nava? (really, I'm curious about that one!) and so on . . .)

Um . . . I think that's it for now!

I pretty much agree with everything there. But I have more to add.

I wish they had of shown Jenna and Aleu interacting with each other. I mean, until Aleu says at the end "Tell Mom... I found my home." (or something along those lines) you barely realised they knew each other! Also I would show interaction between her and her siblings, show them actaully meeting and talking.

GET RID OF MUK, LUK, NUK, YAK, SUMAC!!!

I would've preferred if they actually showed how being an outcast actually affected Aleu. I mean, sure, the first ten minutes of film had no one taking her for a pet, but really, she seemed like she didn't even care that she didn't have a human. They should have had her brothers or other dogs teasing her. And the hunter? Pfffft. If they had've acted as though he were a threat (someone previously suggested that they shot Aleu, but not killed or something) it might've been alright, but it was a lame, bored, tired concept.

I think it really would be best to get rid of Muk and Luk, because obviously they weren't going to show them older, and obviously they did NOTHING for the plot. Why get rid of Nikki, Kaltag, Star, Dixie, Sylvie, Doc etc. and then keep Muk and Luk? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

And lastly- Niju. They should've put a hell of a lot more thought into him. That's all I'll say about that matter.

I really wish they had of kept it more around the original plot of the first movie (as WoC did) instead of having Aleu run into a bazillion random wolves living on a BEACH.
