Wow well when I saw these it made me realize that most of you I dont think know what goes on behind the curtins, cuz im sure if you did then im sure your views would be diffrent, mainly that whole freedom of speech thing is the biggest bull crap I ever heard, ofcource they say its true and ok, but its really not, were always gonna be ruled by high ups, so the freedom and indipendent saying is saddly a huge lie made by the governments and other high groups....
Its very sad though but someone should look up whats really going on in our world because most of what we belive is a bunch of lies and were gonna suffer in the future for them...
I hate to say it but the crap that goes on that people should know about makes all countrys and places defiled due to the secrets.
Yeah countrys are beautifull and have great things to offer the world but thats just the outer core of our societies, but deep down so many false prophets and lies and its just disgusting to even think about, so I guess all we can do is see the outer beauty and try not to think about whats beneath it all....
Ecliptica, this topic thread is entitled 'why do you love your country' not 'critiques of your country' or 'why do you hate your country.' Yes, it's a thread that insinuates that the replying posters are completely blind to the flaws of his or her home country.
And you must realize that the freedom of speech is a dearly protected part of the United States. Yes, we can call our leaders stupid, crazy, psycho, evil. We can ridicule our celebrities - and yours. It's satire. If you really want to know, in a country where free speech is not allowed, you would never see things like
The Simpsons or
South Park or even political cartoons.
No, we cannot outright insult someone, and yes it gets iffy when it comes to military operations and religion... But would you really want your men and women thrown into more danger by reporting every single movement of a single squad? Case in point - Prince Harry. He and his troop were thrown into danger by the Drudge Report - a blog - by reporting his whereabouts in Afghanistan. Now I would believe that the third in line to the British Monarchy would be a massive target by the enemies there. As for religion, people do get up in arms when it comes to it. Images of Mohammad, Jesus, Moses - put into compromising positions or outright defiled, and even shown - can lead to real violence. Yes, free speech has its limits, but it isn't so completely hampered by the powers that be as you claim. If it was, speaking out against the President or the Prime Minister or the Monarch or the General Secretary would get you
killed. Two cases proving my point: Nazi Germany and the USSR. Speaking against Adolf or the Nazis or against any of the Nazi practices, would land you in either the concentration or death camps. Or you'd just be quietly done away with by the Gestapo. The same goes for the USSR. Instead of the camps, you'd be sent to the Gulags in Siberia until you die.
There is freedom of speech and I can say that as
fact for at least the United States. Everything has its limits, but I think insulting someone directly using expletives, discredit their names, or completely ruin their lives is utterly wrong. That can cause violence and people to
die. For example, if you cussed at some random guy on the street in the middle of say, the Bronx, and if he was packing heat (that is carrying a sidearm), odds would be you would be beaten up or shot.
Besides, most of the secrets that are kept are ones to preserve life. Would you like your enemy who wants you dead in any way possible know all of your military secrets? Now if you're talking about the conspiracy theories, most of that is well, based on various random presumptions that somehow escape the human mind and find their ways onto paper or cyberspace. For example, the "theory" that the United States is somehow ruled by 13 families that are signified by the 13 stripes on the national flag is utter bunk. The 13 stripes on the flag represent the 13 original colonies that fought in the Revolutionary War/The American Revolution: New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia.
Yes, those with money have the power in the United States, but they do not control every last detail of our very lives.
Oh, and please, before you can try to counter my argument, take note that I'm a political scientist/anthropologist by schooling and that I've studied every last detail of the United States government, not to mention specializing in international relations.
