Technically, Spirit grew up then wandered off. Simba ran away for a reason, Spirit just got curious about a glow in the distance, which turned out to be a campfire. Simba was found by friends who wanted to help him, and no one but Scar knew Simba ran away. Spirit was captured and forced and was tried to be broken, and his entire herd knew he had been captured. Simba's story was to go back and take the kingdom that was rightfully his to save the land, Spirit's story is shown that he belonged in the Wild West, and his spirit can't be broken. Catch what I'm saying?  These are two very different stories, if you ask me.
