Finally, Maximum looked up and saw Balto. "Uh...sorry for getting in your way..." She flattened her ears, something she'd never done to any dog but her father, and sat down with her tail flicking.
For some reason her fur was bristling nervously, and she had no idea why.
Ken barked from behind. "Hello?" He rolled his eyes and stood where he was behind them.

"Its alright..." said Balto, still a little depressed that no one in town liked him, still no one ever told him sorry and meant it. He jumpped when Ken spoke. He looked at him. "Sorry, you spooked me, there's a few dogs around here that aren't very nice to me. Hello, I'm Balto." he said, looking around to make sure Steele wasn't there.

Ken tipped his head then raced over to him and Maximum. "Nice to meet ya. I'm Ken, and that over there is Maximum." He nodded and sat down.
Suddenly, as if he realized something, he spoke up. "What do you mean? Ah, I bet it's the neighborhood bullies, eh? We get alot of those where I came from. Say...you look....different than usual huskies. Kind of like a...Max, what were they called?"
Maximum spoke up, unusually shy. "Wolves?"
With a nod, Ken turned back to Balto, "Yeah, wolves. Do you have some mixed in you? I think that's kinda cool. I knew some wolves where I lived, not far from this place. We were pretty good friends, too. Right Max?"
"Uh...yeah..."
"Max, what is with you today? You're so shy, and that's something I've never known you to be." flicking his tail, he jumped up to watch the race dogs. "One day, I'll be a sled dog too!"

When Ken first asked about his looks, Balto put his head and pinned his ears but he perked when he heard they'd been friends with wolfs. "Yeah, I'm half wolf...that's kind of why I get picked on so much..." he said, hopping Steele wasn't in earshot, he hated to be made fun of for that part of him, it hurt his feelings terribly. "Hey, if you see a white and black dog a little older than me, please tell me..."

Ken tipped his head slightly, but nodded. "Ok, Balto. I'll tell ya." He stretched and turned his gaze back to the sled dogs.
Meanwhile Maximum was nosing into everything near her with curiousity.

Balto nodded. "Thanks, his name is Steele and he's my main bully problem, he's picked on me ever since I got to town, always calls me half-breed and all sorts of mean names...oh and this here's Boris you could say he's my...adopted father, took me in when I was seperated from my family, I swear its a meriacule I don't honk instead of bark." he said, laughing slightly but braced himself in case he got laughed at for having a goose for a 'father', that and he expected for Boris to maybe yell at him.

Finding this funny, Ken laughed along, and replied. "Hey, I'm part Kishu Inu and I don't even know what the heck it is!"
Maximum rolled her eyes and padded over. "You don't even know who YOU are." Flicking her tail, she laughed slightly.
Ken looked thoughtful and nodded. "Quite true."
(ok, let's wait for the others)

Balto looked at Jenna suprised, she was beutiful and she was speaking to him, the town mutt. "Hi, my name is Balto." he said, still a little startled that such a pretty dog was talking to him. "I'm not sure why you've never seen me before, I always watch the sled races but I guess I normally just watch them from somewhere out of sight becaus-" he was interupted by a human kicking him in the side and calling him wolf dog. He coughed a little before getting up. "Because of that." he said, pinning his ears slightly. "Most people hate me because...I'm half wolf." he said, a little depressed.

Maximum looked symathetic and had barked and snapped at the human's foot when he kicked Balto.
Ken curled his lip at the human, fur bristling, then turned to Balto. "Don't let it get you down, one day you'll prove to be better than any of them. Just believe that."
Nodding, Maximum turned to Jenna. "Hi, I'm Maximum, Max for short. And that wierdo over there is Ken," she pointed.
"HEY!" Ken snorted and sat down.

Balto smiled and nodded to Ken, besides Boris he really hadn't had any friends, maybe things would get better now. "Thanks." he said before turning back to Jenna. "These two are new in town so you've probably never seen them. This is Boris." he said, introducing Boris.
Silvie set not far away with Dixie. "So I heard Steele might be starting sled racing soon, I bet you're going to love that..." she said, she new that Dixie had a bit of a crush on Steele, then again so did she. She noticed Jenna talking to Balto. "Dixie, do you see what I see?" she asked.

Boris smiled at the pups then looked over at the female puppy. 'Anint she a pretty thing' he said to himself then smiled, and moved away a bit.
Several blocks of was a young and apperant strong lustrious male pup. His icy blue eyes searched the veiw, then locked on the feamle. His lips creased a frown as he saw the half-mutt. "Ugh such a disgust" He trotted forward with a manish flirt pose, and stood next to jenna, curling his tail around hers "Hello there Jenna" His voice was a lovestruck deep toned.

Balto backed up a little when he saw Steele. He didn't want to fight Steele, he knew Steele would beat him and if he stayed he'd just suffer a string of insults. "I'll see you guys later." he muttered, turned, and walked away, tail tucked between his legs. He looked back to Boris and motioned for him to follow, so they could find somewhere to watch the race where Steele could bother them.

Ken spit at Steel, his exact size though he looked nothing like him. His fur bristled and he looked quite annoyed, guessing this was the dog Balto had talked about.
Meanwhile Maximum raced after Balto, barking when she caught up with him. "Hey! Don't let him push you around, Balto. Remember he's just a big showoffy dog, and you've got wolf blood in you. That's nothing to be ashamed of, it's something to be proud of. Where I come from, dogs would give anything to be half wolf."
Ken had followed, and got to Boris's side and spoke to Balto. "Yeah. Besides, all dogs basically were wild and came from wolves. Wolfdogs are just going back to the basics. I mean, I'm part Kishu Inu. Maxie there had a grandfather part wolf, and her grandmother was all wolf."
Maximum flattened her ears and blushed slightly, but nodded that it was true.
