geez, people have got to stick to the rules here! I agree with you tea. But I doubt that thier going to stop swearing and talking about drugs and sex just because they want us too. But at least so many of us do stick to the rules and don't swear and stuff. there are many ways to express your feelings but people who swear just don't really know how to express thier feelings. *Sighs* oh man.....

Wow! This topics getting old! But let me tell you something tea,I totally agree with you. Wanna know why? Im still a kid!I feel VERY uncomfortable here. And I see a bunch of teens talking about their characters like, "Bob is sexy." Then I look in people's art gallerys and they say something bad, like "Oh sh*t!" or "He kicks a*s!" I can't stand it anymore,Im starting to feal like its NOT a kid-friendly site, more like a teen friendly site...Im only 8,so sorry if I didn't right good.

It's only natural for someone to mistakingly post an inappropriate message every once in a while but it's ridiculous and inexcusable when a user intentionally attempts to offend younger members. Contrary to my views on the matter I discourage ranting on the matter, after all if those who post adult content on a site that's supposedly kid friendly are indeed trolls they'll want nothing more than to see people angered and offended by their post and creating topics such as this. I suggest merely ignoring those who go out of their way to offend others by breaking the rules and attempt to start fights and (when necessary) reporting them to the moderators.

I can't say I'm an emo supporter, but people have a right to support whatver group they'd like despite our opinions on the subject. Being emo is popular among young teenagers and coincidently they make up a majority of the forums population so if we intend on being comfortable around our peers we must get used to their views being expressed.

Well, as an adult member of this site (I'm probably one of the earliest people on this site), I agree. This is a "kid-friendly" shrine for Balto, and I'll admit it - there are some non-kiddie stuff on there.

Of course, I will admit that I do write some fanfictions that include topics and situations that others may not agree with (such as the whole "homo-hush-hush" topic and adultery and I even started the . . . bah, incest . . . thing), but most of those types of stories are posted somewhere else . . . where people who are mature adults can read them. Thankfully, I have enough sense to not post things like that here (because I'm a fanfic mod for one thing . . . and I don't wanna be banned for another).

Also, the fic situation . . . yeah, it's our job (the mods) to notify members when something they write is not up to speed to be posted on the site. If a bad apple accidentally slips through . . . then we have a problem. Also, there are ratings for each fic, you know. Some writers even put clear warnings before you even read a fic, reminding you what you may expect to read . . . Remember, kids (and adults too - this isn't just a place for teens and children, you know! I'm 22 for goodness sake.) - if the rating or the summary/warnings/etc aren't something you want to read, you can click "BACK". It's that simple, but of course, not everyone on Earth has their lights on in the attic. There is something called "self-judgment," people - use it once and a while, okay?

As for the whole argument with this subject, I believe that if the rules say "kid-friendly site - post only kid-friendly things here, dudes" or something like that, common sense would be to follow the rules or else you will have to accept the consequences of your actions. DUH.

*whew . . .* It feels good to rant again.

There's always the risk, however, that no matter HOW many warnings we use, a kid will ignore them all and have a look at it anyway because they think they're more mature than they actually are. Then we'll get the parents complaining that their kid is having a read of stuff that they shouldn't be reading, and that we're being "irresponsible"; DESPITE the warnings on that page. You have to remember that - there will ALWAYS be that risk.

True - but that only means that some kids are (I hate to say it, but you gotta live with it) stupid. This is normal for kids - they think they're all mature and old enough to do things that big kids (and adults) do, but they aren't.

Sadly, sometimes they have to learn the hard way, and in the end, they pay the price . . . *sigh*

But other than that: Just use common sense. If something you want to post may be offensive, warn people (or better yet, don't post it . . .). Fics on the other hand, I know of places that will allow you to post any type of story you want - whether it's kid-friendly or not.

But of course, the final decision goes to the Mods on this one. That's why we're here - to make sure that everything on the site is kid-friendly (or no higher than PG-13 at least).
