Quote: although it sounds like this Bagel is a pretty bad one... Actually there are different form of the same virus. Bagel is an old one, but it has "improved" over the time, and I think I got a very recent version...I still don't know how I got it.

You guys don't happen to know any free virus removal programs do you?
I'm pretty sure my comp has one...all of a sudden my art program won't start and the Photoshop CS3 30 day trial won't install and I need help!
I tried one called Avast but it didn't find anything yet they still won't work...
I dunno how it got one though 0.o...I got Firefox though..I heard it was better for internet security.

I've got Symantec Antivirus (although it might cost money) and not once has a computer with it installed that I've been on has been infected with a virus.
Err... just a heads up if you wanted something of the sort.

Hmmm... I'd better set up a system to counter the Bagel virus myself.
Anyone knows if it's possible to reroute everything that attempts to enter my computer through five different external harddrives before it actually enters my laptop's system?
I use !Avast, and it's decent. It recently had an update which should include protection against it, but meh; I've got to ready an external harddrive and back up my system now D:

Try Avira Antivir, it's free. You need to know that no anti-virus program, even the expensive ones, can detect all the viruses. The most important is to prevent them from coming, with a firewall like Zone alarm (there's a free version of it)

No, it's not really a virus But true, I had Norton for some time, but deinstalled it because it took too much of the PC ressources. Besides, it's not a good antivirus : it always gets bad marks in comparatives, because it has a low detection rating. It only happens to be the most famous, but remember that the most famous are not always the best ones...(and the opposite...)
