If I would have written a fanfic, I would have had Steele humbling himself to Balto for forgivness. I'm no writer, but I do have a pic of that kind of scene in my art gallery. Check it out and maybe it will spark an idea for someone... Here's the link:

Sounds like an interesting idea. Kinda hard to imagine him doing it for real (a lot of writers have him fake it for a shot at stealing Jenna), but anything's possible.

lol yes that's what everyone says. It seems that everyone has the same idea that either he leaves town or stays just as stubborn and wants Balto out of town because of his jealousy. I'm kind of a big fan of being different, so that's why I threw that out there.

Ha ha. Well, I've seen good different and bad different. Your idea seems like good different, so I say go for it!

Thanks, I might just do that. Writing never was a high critique of mine, but I guess I'll give it a try and write something...

That's great. You never know, you just might find out you've got a knack for it.

In my fanfic, he is still in the town but isn't a sled dog any more because of the whole "losing his edge" thing. His owner keeps him tied in a backyard. I won't say what happens in the fic, but that's Steele's situation at the beginning. Yeah.

Owned --> Makes sense.
Orion --> I just remembered, Grey Wolf 777 had that sort of thing in his fanfics. You might want to check them out sometime.

There's always the possibility that he was put down. Musher would have disowned him ("losing his edge") and I don't think many people in Nome would have trusted him enough to own him. He could have moved to a different down, but it sure as hell wouldn't be Nenana in any case. They knew that Steele was leading the team. I'm not too sure he'd find a home within Alaska anyway, the race would have been spread in the news, so he could have gone to America... don't know.

Realistically, I suppose it could happen, although it seems more plausible that his master would keep him for breeding, since we know he managed pretty well at racing in his prime. Anyway, being put down seems like an awfully anti-climactic end for a villain like him.
