Simba is always wondering what his Father would do,and he's not letting himself be himself, but letting himself be Mufasa.I understand that, and Kiara told him off when him banished Kovu,XD!But Mufasa was quite the king,so i see why he wants to be like him....

Naturally, Simba, like everyone else, looked up to Mufasa. When he was killed, everyone (minus Scar, of course) was heart-broken, but ah, the Circle of Life . . . Now that Simba is King, he is still young and finding his own way, but what other example does he have except for his father's?
But yeah, I suppose he was tightening the leash between the world and his beloved daughter, only because he had seen what happens when a naive child makes a mistake . . . personally. His protection over Kiara was natural for any father, or any parent for that matter - he didn't want her to get hurt or have something happen to her because of her natural sense of getting curious about the world that she would one day rule. He eventually lost his father because of his carelessness and reckless spirit; since Kiara has that same fire within her, he was so afraid to let her do anything without someone nearby to watch her.
No offense, but Simba lied in her face, saying that he would let her hunt alone . . . his worry for her clouded his own personal judgment for the world IMO.
(Just adding to my thoughts from . . . gah, a while ago!)
