Okay...now let me ask you this: why do you like her? She's just a clump of pixels. ;]

See? It's no different. Some people madly love her, and some people are the complete opposite. Why does the complete opposite seem so wrong? We hate her, you love her. Yes, some people kill her off...and? Maybe they want to entertain Aleu-haters. People who make her mate and have a family etc. want to entertain Aleu-lovers. But she won't actually be killed off in the films, so let the haters have their fun XD

I neither like, nor hate Alue, but I am writing a fanfiction as we speak (or read) about her, her life after she left her home, and about her return (sounds cliché, but I promise you will be surprised ;) )
And I am trying to write the story to appeal to both Alue lovers and Alue haters, but more than that I will not reveal.
Personally, I don't think that haters should have their fun, or the lovers for that matter. I think our different opinions can all be handled in a mature, but still fun manner. Cat14's Dragon Tamer tell-off is proof of immature-ish reactions (no offense meant, Cat14).

And yes, I also agree on the "just pixels" part. How CAN you love an animated character?

catwhohas14tails wrote:
Well, also, if someone makes a good point about something you thought one thing about and then thought something different about, doesn't always mean they're following a trend either. Some could be Aleu lovers one minute then be like "Hmm, this person DOES make a good point." (and in some cases on top of that, they listen to her voice long enough *gag*) and in time change their opinion and become an Aleu hater.

Some cases, also starting off as Aleu lovers, include just being downright fed up with fan shipping, and hate it so much they convert. It happens.

Some cases also include people starting off as Aleu haters and then somehow convert to being Aleu lovers because they somehow see the goodness within the character (I.E. they probably watched Lion King 2 and liked Kiara or something) Does that really mean that loving Aleu is popular? It depends cuz hating Aleu is just as widely experienced. (I say about the hatred/love for Aleu is divided pretty darn equally, which shouldn't possibly be a problem.)

Now, I'm not saying people DON'T like a certain something just to be popular, it happens all the time, and in real life, and its something we can't control, no matter how much we lecture on it. Besides, I say no matter how stupid the reason is, people can believe and like or hate whatever they want.

Oh and if you actually want to know why people hate Aleu instead of trying to convince people they're hating something for "no reason" here's the topic related to this. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7214 I wouldn't talk about why you like Aleu in that topic either because it is asking why people hate her. Not like her. Just thought I'd save you the spam. ;D

Indeed, Cat14, you make some good valid points. I've nothing that I don't agree on, which is rather strange O.o
Anyway, the reason I made this topic was to express my thoughts and opinions, and to create a sensible, but interesting debate ;) It's more like I am asking for your opinions about this, and you can include why you/why you don't hate the character.

What's the point in the second reason?

Anyway... I personally can't understand why anyone would have an immense hatred for any character. So much that they "want to kill them". I mean, it's not like they're real. It's not like said character chooses to be a certain way. It's a clump of pixels xD Hate the animators or voice actors, if you will.

I can understand that some may find a certain character annoying, however. I found Stella annoying, and Muk, Luk and Boris in WoC annoying.

Just my opinion.

Well, you are both correct and halfways incorrect.
Surely, the characters are fictional, thus they can't really choose to be the way they're made.
But hating the voice actors? They are just doing their jobs. And they were handpicked by the staff at Universal's to give voices to the characters. I think they did a pretty good job, considering how cliché the script was.

Ok, so, this is what I'm getting. This is how you're explaining this: You want our opinions (which are gonna be flippin' no brainers) and yet you say we're not allowed to have them. That is what you're implying. How can there be debate if you say no one should have an opinion? Just because you're neutral (or appear neutral) on the character, doesn't mean everyone else should follow YOUR example, especially since some are following MY example.

In order to debate, one has to look at it from both perspectives, no matter how much they don't want to, no matter how much they're against something. And.........you're not doing that. And you don't have to use one person as an example of something (i.e. me?) and use their name, that just shows your maturity, or lack thereof. That's very disrespectful and very not modlike.

As usual you are, not intentionally, I'm sure, misunderstanding my posts. Please, point me to where I said you aren't allowed to have your opinions voiced, or where I was implying it.
I am looking at the issue from both perspectives, but everyone on this site knows about your tell-off (which I, personally, consider a lack of maturity, although quite hilarious), but discussing this here would be off-topic. Had I wanted to create a fight about examples and naming, I would have given this a different title and posting it in the Others section.
And you seem to be holding a grudge against me, which I understand, so it might be the reason you misunderstood my post.

To clear up any misunderstandings you might have gotten from my post, in reply to you, I posted this:

I will quote a good reason taken up by Canis Lupus, which is a good point of why the haters (or, for instance, the lovers who may also write rather inappropriate stories, as well), shouldn't be completely unrestricted, as it may cause some rather disturbing results.

I know, but I mean that some people go too far when they say 'I wanna kill Aleu!' and all that. She's just a fictional character. It's fine to hate her, but I don't like listening to people's details on how they are going to kill Aleu.

Well, they mean kill her off in the series, and they have a reason to, although going on over the tiny details is going a bit far, yeah.
I mean, it's fine going 'slow and painful deathhXD' but going on about how in every detail... inappropraite.

What was the point of this drivel, other than busting cat's chops? Let's recap here, you basically said that most people who hate Aleu (70% was your number, I believe) only do so because they are following the opinions of a "popular" member. By which, of course, you meant cat. You then declaim that she's not really popular and that people who agree with her only do so to "fit in". So you're basically accusing her of being some sort of puppet-master with mindless "fans" whom she commands around at her will. At least, that's the gist of what I read. If you said such things about me, I would also have been insulted.

Of course, when cat took umbrage at this blatant attack, you attempted to grab the moral high-ground, arguing that your only intention was to bring up a friendly debate. I'm sorry, Wolflux, ad hominem attacks and personal slurs are not a friendly debate. I can only assume your anger is in some degree fostered by your friendship with Cole, who has since left the site in anger.

In conclusion, I see no purpose to this topic, other than to make a thinly veiled personal attack on someone. If you purpose was, in fact, to foment debate...well, you're obviously not too adept at picking your words.

Oh, by the way, your argument that since cat was rude, it allows you to be rude too is a tu quoque fallacy. Just because one person does something wrong or bad, doesn't give you license to do the same thing. Tu Quoque is a very common fallacy in which one attempts to defend oneself or another from criticism by turning the critique back against the accuser. This is a classic Red Herring since whether the accuser is guilty of the same, or a similar, wrong is irrelevant to the truth of the original charge.

I never mentioned any names of a specific popular member, HrryNrmn, and Cat14 was not even in my mind when I created the topic to begin with. The numbers I give out is from my point of view, and may not be correct, but is in no way a generalization.
And friendship with Cole? May I ask who that is?

But yes, I have (secretly, and not on the website, but in my head) been slightly frustrated at Cat14 and her fans. Call it jealousy if you want, but personally I find her quite controlling, although with great humor.
I did intend this to be a friendly debate, but not about anything else than the opinions of your own, and/or perhaps some constructive feedback on my "theory". I can handle mostly any kind of attacks; I've recieved hate PM's for locking topics, banning members, warning members, etc etc. But when someone attempts to use my moderator status as a weapon against me, I have to go defensive. The last part of the post was in response to Cat14's comment "not very modlike".

Also, I can not see what bad I have done, so please poke me to that. (unless it my response to

In the paranthesis above, I have quoted one thing Cat14 misunderstood, and the part where she directly attacked me. I feel I had the right to go on the defensive here, and I was not being rude myself. I was reminding (you may check with Togo for confirmation of the reality of the issue) her of what she herself had done, and that one should consider oneself before judging others.

If misunderstandings did not happen, this would have turned out to become a friendly and sensible debate, but unfortunately, if we can't drop this subject and return to what the topic really is for, I'm going to have to request this to be locked, to prevent any eventual flame wars.

First; if you read through the few first responses, and read my first post, without just being pinpointed to page two without readin the topic, you would have seen that I picked my words well enough. I can not understand how you managed to misinterpret this topic in such a way, so please, illuminate me on where I did choose the wrong words.

Secondly; When did I ever say that "If she is rude, I am allowed to be too!" ?

Also, I feel this is really going to evolve into some kind-of fight, so if you don't mind, leave this topic if you do not have anything related to it to say from now on, and continue over PM. Saves the other members from some frustration, and it saves the mods from locking yet another topic...

Bold clearly proves my point. I'm immature, so obviously not everyone's gonna be mature, but I have fun doing it.

Italic is not reminding ME of anything. You're not talking to me. You're talking to Rebel. Apparent bait. Hrry's right. You need to be careful of what you say. If you have a clear conscience, you shouldn't have to worry about starting a flame war.

Besides, the link I presented to you is all the proof you need about why people hate Aleu. I'm sure there's a topic as to why people like her. So instead of "going fishing," I say do a little research, cuz otherwise this isn't even worth "debate," it's all opinionbased and can't even come to a conclusion other than "people do it just to be cool." Which I might add, the formerly said topics say otherwise.

I'm in the middle really. I like Aleu, she's pretty (if they bothered to animate her in the Balto #1 style she's look fantastic in my opinion), spunky, and has a good heart even though she dosn't know what to do with herself.

However, at the same time I find her immaturaty in the movie very annoying (her voice don't really bother me as much as the animation and her attitude, so no real comment about that).

As you can see, I really don't know where I stand on the issue. I like her and dislike her all at the same time. It's weird, but that's the way it is with me. *shrug*

Wow, I'm surprised this topic hasn't been locked by now with all of the off-topicness going on here; BTW, thank you Togo! *bows*

Anywho, I agree that the whole "follow the wave" thing does reign true for Aleu. Sure, some people will like her, others will hate her - big fat whoop.

I agree with whoever said that whole "She's just a bunch of pixels" comment earlier, because it really makes sense. Aleu is only a character created by the writers of WQ for the purpose of continuing Balto's heroic story after the original. And since everyone has their own opinions about her, let's just leave it at that, shall we? No matter what we say, there will always be Aleu-haters and Aleu-fans (Personally, I am a fan of her character, but I like to have some torture fun with her every now and then . . . Cat knows what I'm talking about . . . *wink-wink*), but there's nothing we can really do to change how her story was in the movie (only the ending . . . and the other quick time-lapses that they left out . . . that's for us fanfiction writers to do for you guys). And sure, her voice was kinda unwolf-like and annoying at periods of time, but it's not like we can redub it or anything . . . (Well, with today's technology, you probably could make a fan re-dub of only Aleu's voice, but it wouldn't be an easy task for non-computer people); no offense, but I thought her voice suited the naive nature of her character . . . but this isn't exactly the right place for me to talk about that at the moment.

In conclusion, Aleu-haters: Chill and stop pounding down the ones that can tolerate Aleu for who she is. You wouldn't like it if someone did that to you; and Aleu-lovers: Repeat the Aleu-haters response, except substitute the word "tolerate" for "not stand". Read it that way and you'll get it.

Hopefully, there will not be another flame war because of this in the future . . . . *crosses fingers*

That's exactly what I was thinking.

There are some aspects of her character that could've been stronger, but do we really need people following popular members like sheep?
