They are expensive, but they're not necessarily bad. I think Spoodles are cute ;D. Besides, hybridization is handy for fixing many health problems purebreds suffer, and you get the traits of two breeds in one if you can't decide which is better.

That still doesn't give people the right to sell them as purebreds for thousands of dollars. I don't have a problem with mutts, and if it was an accidental breeding (although they could SPAY AND NEUTER) then I wouldn't get so mad about it, but the fact that people actually breed Border Collies and Staffordshire Bull Terriers together is pure ignorance. The breeds are NOT related at all and Staffies already need alot of exersize as it is. With the Border Collie blood, they need twice as much exersize and unfortunately not many people have the time to do so, which would give both the Border Collie and the Staffie a bad name, because people would then label them as "hyperactive killers" or something of the like. Breeding a Border Collie and a Staffie is like breeding a Chihuahua and a Great Dane, it just doesn't make any sence, and it surely doesn't do the dogs any good. True, true... but there's still some things I don't quite agree with. If a Husky and a Malamute were crossed and called a 'Huskamute' or something and sold intended for sledding and someone buys one as a family pet, you can't exactly blame the breeder, can you?

No, but in my opinion that "breeder" would actually be creating a better, stronger and possibly faster sled-dog, unlike Schnoodles which are bred only for looks and nothing more. What's wrong with breeding dogs for looks and nothing more? I mean, if that's what's in demand, the breeders should supply it . That goes for the whole designer-breed issue: is people are willing to pay for an awkward mix, is say let them, by all means. The dogs can only profit from the situation (not being inbred ad infinitum, having owners who are obviously willing to spend a decent buck on them).

I still can't believe that people can give them a "fancy" name and then proceed to sell them for outrageous prices. After all, they are just mutts. You can find them everywhere. If you're going to get a mutt, do an animal a favor and adopt one.

The cases where dogs are inbred to produce ones with specific fur traits, etc (an example in the feline world being the sphinx and of the like) I greatly dislike. It degenerates the animal's genetic code and breaks down the immune system. Some of the animals have been inbred so much that their life span has decreased by too much due to extreme vulnerability. (Inbred not interbred: something that has been bred together in close proximity, such as a generation of dogs of the same family, etc)
As for totsi-shmoodles and of the like, some of the crosses can be done quite naturally in the backyard, and I really don't get the point of buying one for tons of money as if it were something out of the ordinary. If you want a shmoodle-box or box-shmoodle there are plenty of the types at the dog pound, which actually really need and want a home.
I reckon if the "pure" cross breeds have been created and then interbred amongst the ensuing type of dog, it could possibly become a breed. But otherwise, the buyer does buy a "mutt" when she/he could go to the dog pound and save a life.

My mom's friend has a Labradoodle. It's really cute (he's more of a giant teddy bear than a dog), but I still don't like the idea of 'desginer dogs'. There's the size issue (A Saint Bernard with a poodle[i]? Come on, people), and the fact that if someone wanted a mixed breed so badly, they would spend a [i]lot of money on it, just for a good-looking pet. Dogs can't be judged by how they look (with the exception of shows), but their personality, and how much you love them. You want a mutt? Go look in a shelter. You'll gain a friend and possibly save a life.

Money doesn't make a good owner; look at Micheal Vick. (however you spell his name XD). The dude is flithy stinkin' rich, yet he loves the sight of dogs killing each other. I'm dirt poor, yet I manage to keep all of my animals happy and healthy. Anyway, I think people are overbreeding these dogs. It was cute at first, but the thought of more money makes all those "breeders" drool; so who cares if the dogs wind up being put down because there's just too many of them? As long as they get paid, they'll just keep making more and more mutts. These breeders do not love dogs; they just love all that dough the dogs make them. Disgusting greedy slobs
