Woah, you're serious? Is that just for factory sealed tapes (plastic wrap not removed) though? The movie must be liked a lot!

I don't think so...At least, I find lots of french VHS versions and most of the time no one bid on them.

And about not being possible to get... I've found video games that have sold less copies than Balto did. I doubt it's next to impossible to find.

I still have my 1996 Balto VHS in excellent condition, sale price sticker on it and all (it cost $30 then, oh the price memories). Tips to keep it like that: Run through it every once in a while, keep it in its case during non-use, make sure you don't spill anything on it or get it too greasy... these are just simple things but man does it help keep it pristine.

As for your search for the VHS, I bid you luck. I'd say eBay would be the best thing for this sort of thing, it's the same for merchandise, nice bargains pop up every once in a while.
If you don't believe me, I've seen an original Jenna plushie on there that I wanted for my birthday, and I didn't get it. Do'h.

Thanks, but I'm probably going to look in thrift stores and stuff. I love the thrill of the hunt!

I have seen the original 1996 VHS at garage sales, and a few at some thrift stores near me. Just keep looking you will find one. They can't be that rare.

USMC Wolf: What condition were they in? For my favorite movie ever, I don't want something that's torn up and worn.

The one I saw at a garage sale recently looked pretty good.
