For Family Guy to be a rip-off of the Simpsons, it require that The Simpsons was humorous in the first place. These similarities are present because they are both the same composition of an average family, or at least from what I gather with all these other American shows is a pretty stock-standard formula.

The Simpsons have failed to amuse me for the past 7 years at least, and I haven't yet seen a Family Guy episode that didn't raise a laugh or two. I think that the producers should have given up on The Simpsons long ago and continued with Futurama which was much more entertaining.

The style of humor both differ largely as previously stated. The humor in Family Guy is just a lot more entertaining.

Yet again no one cares in this topic, it's an opinion. anyway the Simpsons would not still be here today after 18 to 19 years if everyone thought they were unfunny. The Simpsons are a phenomenon and an icon from the 1990's and 2000's much like Family Guy is too.
