Yeah, I know exactly what you mean--I was trying to come up with a word to describe those kinds of names too, to say that I don't like them, without sounding racist, because I'm not at all. For Heidi's names, I agree about disliking Britney (in all its spellings.) Same with Capreesha, which kinda sounds like one of those names I couldn't figure out how to describe (though Caprice is very pretty.) And I think for the spelling question you want Natalie. The rest are just 'okay' to me; Damian is actually really cool if I spell it this way, I think..

I feel sorry with people wit exotic names-like some that Gauntlet mentioned, the poor kids get teased at school. these names arr fine in the country of origin-bu in the USA UK etc-thy just aren't suitable. It's the same wit place/month names etc for example April (mentioned heidisart)i.e."hey April its April, your month April".
And first names that clash with sir-names, my mum knew a woman called 'Nora Bone' another candidate for teasing.
Silver Deni is right though-we shouldn't' rate people after their names. But my dad doesn't trust anyone called Roger-he has had several-5 I think 'Rogers' working for him and none of them have done good work! he is god guy though, don't get me wrong, and om sure ther ar plenty of hard working Rogers out there.

Good points Sheba. For one thing, you can't judge a person by their name any more than you can judge a book by its cover. ^^ Of course, there are names I have (multiple) bad associations with too, but I'm not going to hate someone else I meet just because their name is shared by someone I don't like. (But I hope nobody ever "spoils" any of my favorite names for me this way.) SOMEtimes it seems kinda funny that a certain type of name just seems to "go" with a certain type of person...but there are always exceptions. And it's not the name itself but probably the person's lifestyle/background that really decides what they're like.
Surnames are important to take into account-LOL, Nora Bone. Poor thing. Same with initials, you don't want them spelling anything awkward. Imagine being named Allison Sophia Smith or something, and wanting a monogrammed backpack--oh, you couldn't bring THAT to school! XD
I'm a fan of *certain* month names (April, January and August for a boy), and May and June are all right. I know this is about LEAST favorite names...but now being reminded of "day of the week" names as well, I think Wednesday is pretty. Tuesday too. xD

A Black friend told me that the parents make up the names on the spot, so their origins are really from Black Nationalism. I didn't know if he was pulling my leg or not. Apparently it's true. Quote: African-American Names
In the 1960s, some African-Americans began to give their children names from African cultures. Some adults also changed their names to African or Muslim names. Because slaves were often assigned the surnames of their owners and given common first names, choosing African names is a way for African-Americans to acknowledge their heritage before slavery. However, only a few genuine African names, such as Ayana, Kwame, and Jabari, have become widely popular in the African-American community. Muslim names from the Arabic language, such as Iesha, Jamal, Malik, and Aaliyah, have been more popular recently, even with African-Americans who have not adopted the Islamic religion.
Since the 1970s it has become more common for African-Americans to create new names for their children by combining their own set of fashionable sounds and syllables. Names for girls formed in this way are called "Lakeisha names" after one of the prime examples. Lakeisha names are created by linking a fashionable prefix, such as Sha-, La-, Ka-, Shan-, or Ty-, with a fashionable suffix, such as -isha, -ika, -onda, -ae, -ique, or -ice. The resulting names are almost always accented on the second syllable.
In the 1970s and 1980s, names beginning with La- such as Lashonda and Lashay were most popular. In the 1990s, Sha- names such as Shameka, Shanae, and Shaniqua were fashionable. In 2004, names starting with Ja- or ending in -iyah such as Jakayla, Jamya, Janiyah, and Taniyah were in vogue. But the point of this custom for most parents is to create a unique name for their child, and many are successful. Even in states as large as Pennsylvania, each year the average African-American girl receives a name that no other African-American girl born in that state is given. It was not possible to include many of these unique names, such as Azanae, Kyaire, and Zaterria, but they are now the most typical kind of names for African-American girls. Names for boys that have been created similarly include DeJuan, Deonte, Jamarion, Ladarius, and Quantavious. http://people.howstuffworks.com/baby-na ... ds-ga2.htm

I love the name Marina, it's beautiful. Always reminds me of "The Pebble & the Penguin." But it's sad that they tease you over your pronunciation.

I basically hate everybody I know. I am the lone wolf! Please don't do that. Anyway, I don't like the name Josie that much. I wouldn't say that I hate it, but I wouldn't say it's the greatest name ever.
