I have found...a SMS language detector! Not kidding, I've tried this script and it works pretty fine. Well for now, it's only for french, but I'll probably be able to adapt it into english as well.
According to the text input, it gives points : the more points, the more it's close to a bad language.
And it even gives what's wrong.
So I would be able, for example, to force everyone on the site to write a GOOD language : if I detect that someone uses SMS language very often, I will prevent that person to post until she writes in a better way.
Even more than that, there's an "automatic translator"! (bad to good language...) I haven't tried it yet, but it's simple and it should work...
Give me some time, and I'll probably be able to do something I've never seen on any site... YeS! this may be the answer this is so cool!

WOW, that's awesome. Agreed - I can't wait for it to hit the English site!
And no offense, but SMS speak is just . . . weird. I don't use it much (more to the point of very rarely . . . okay, I have no clear idea of what it really is), so I'm all for it.
Speak in Clear, Normal English . . . so that all people (that know/understand English, mind you) can get what you're talking about! That's what I like.
