I think we do if they are treated properly.

Hey Look. That's what my anscetors used to do. And those Native Americans also wasted no part of the body. And secretly I have to say; I will let out a prayer for the poor creature.

Sure it doesn't physically do anything for them, but still... That's very kind of you, KG. ^^ I really like the Native Americans' regard for and use of nature; I love the whole Pocahontasy oneness with nature thing.

Sorry kody-girl, I didn't meant o upset you, I agree 100% with almost everything said but most of us humans (at least in first world countries) get their meat from farms, the animals are bred for food. we don't need humans to keep the balance of nature, and in the fishing industry we are taking far too much sea-life. humans just arent part of the balance of nature anymore, except for some remote native tribes. I love your Avvy Sheba

Canines, are designed to cut and tear, specifically (surprise surprise) meat. Parts in a human body have a design and purpose. If the canines are for meat than I guess meat is a part of my natural diet, therefore my right. But this whole factory farming deal is not good, not just in a humanitarian sense, but a practical sense. Animals crammed in tight spaces is asking for disease and bad meat. The farmers know this, so they pump the animals full of antibiotics. The surviving bacteria grow tolerant of the antibiotics, so the farmers have to use stronger or more antibiotics, but again the surviving bacteria tolerate the new antibiotic. As a result, factory farming creates this "super-bacteria" that is almost invincible to any antibiotic on the market. That is very dangerous for the public.

Yay LOLcats! But yes, Second Chance, that's exactly how I feel. What Gauntlet said is also exactly correct; if you watch the flash movie "The Meatrix" it explains it also, in awful detail. http://www.themeatrix.com, I think.

Well, if you're all asking me, of course I am very grateful for all of the food that the Lord provides for me each and every day, including (but not limited to) meat; I'm just a HUGE meat fanatic, that's all. So, with that being said, there's absolutely no reason to flame me about being a supposedly "unthankful, fanatical meat-lover", if that's what you all are trying to label me being as such. -Charlie.

No, nobody's flaming or saying that about you! I'm certainly not. It's perfectly fine that you love meat. Again, I'm personally not a big fan of it...I'd be a bigger one if the idea that 'animals were put here for us' sat right with me, but it doesn't. Everyone's entitled to their own viewpoint and feelings. ^.^

The only reason I am asking you this is because if you're used to living around, feeding, and otherwise constantly caring for farm animals, especially food-related ones (i.e. cows, chickens, pigs, etc.), then you might have built up a distinct passion for them over all of those years of being around them, thus treating them more like pets than farm animals, and thus leading up to and mainly explaining your current, eventual despising of their consumers (i.e. me and other meat-eating humans), if ya' know what I mean. -Charlie.

[/color] Yes, I'm female. And I don't despise you. No, I don't work on a farm, I never have, and I don't know anybody who does. (One day I think I'd like to though...raise chickens for eggs, stuff like that.) But I know what you mean. I always imagined it must be quite difficult to raise food animals, knowing you're eventually going to kill them. My mom's told me about how my great-grandma couldn't watch the turkeys being decapitated. :p But I guess it's just something that has to be done and you get used to it. I just have always simply had a lot of compassion for animals, that's all, really; I dislike them being hurt or killed. Maybe part of it is thanks to movies like Babe. But I think I'd feel the same, anyway.
