If there's an another planet with enough Oxygen and Water then there'll be life on it, let's face it, alien or not, no living creatures can survives without the two most important things above, or is there?

Good point HonshuWolf, just because nothing on earth (we know of) cant live without Oyxgen And water dose that necessarily mean that other creatures cant? Sheba

Sheba Well, that depends on the biochemistry. Ammonia and silicon based organisms can, but, as far as it is known, only carbon based beings exist or are most likely to exist, and those need oxygen and water.

I'm afraid you have oversimplified the matter drastically. Not only is it neccessary for there to be enough oxygen and water, they must be pure enough. Also, there are literally countless other things vital to life as we know it. Like they described it in "A Priveleged Planet," our planet is like a complex machine with millions upon millions of dials on it. These dials are the settings for the distance between the Earth and the sun, the Earth and the moon, planetary gravity, magnetic field... I could literally go on forever. Now this may sound like a stretch, but if one of those dials were twisted even a few degrees, life on Earth as we know it would be over. Another thing to consider: ecosystems. All the right lifeforms have to appear at the same time, or the imbalance will destroy everything. Like when colonists imported new species, old ones were quickly wiped out almost completely (granted, the imports had help from the colonists, but it still would have happened eventually). Just add or take away one species of predator (or herbivore for that matter), and the tower starts to fall. Even in a dog-eat dog world, it's all for one and one for all.

Ammonia and silicon based organisms can, but, as far as it is known, only carbon based beings exist or are most likely to exist, and those need oxygen and water. It's true there are only carbon-based lifeforms, but some (used to) 'breathe' (it's way more complicated than that, but this isn't a biochemistry lesson) using sulfur.

KomodoVistas wrote: Even if there is life out there, we won't detect it. Our definition of "life" is way too narrow. All life must have DNA on earth but that might not be the case on other worlds. Perhaps their life started in a much different fashion than our own. For example, the Drej from Titan AE were made of pure energy; nothing organic. Perhaps there are lifeforms out there like that (and hopefully they won't blow up our planet). Yes, unless panspermia is real.
