Quote: I would say that the members who've been here for X amount of time, get some sort of exclusive perk, like the senior box (or whatever it was called,) just better. What that is? I have no clue, XD My $.02. It's not that I don't like the idea, it's just that I still don't see how to make this into practical. I already tried with the VIP box and it didn't work (well, part of the reason was because it was buggy but still) I don't know...I could "hire" someone who I trust very much, and ask him to select the "best" members of the site - but that would cause more problems than anything, because everyone would try to be a suck-up to him or be disrepectful because "he didn't choose me". And there is no real automatic way to do this, I fear. Quote: Believe it or not, there are also people who are just putting it off. That the 5 minutes (no, not even...maybe 2 minutes) it takes to enter a little information is too much to ask. Yes, I know this, but that means they're not so much interested then. Quote: So then in order to be a member of the site, you have to sign the petition? No, just that I would expect the members of the site to be a community and help its cause. I've already signed petitions for which I only cared a little, but I just wanted to help.

The people who voted 'I don't care' probably just come here just to chat in the 'other' sections or roleplay. I signed the petition twice!

'My parents won't let me' is a dumb excuse, I think, unless you're at that age where you have to ask to sign petitions. I didn't even ask and signed it right away... the willingness of fanatics! It should be around here a lot more .

I think it is not fair to sign the petition twice unless you would buy the Special-Edition dvd as many times as you signed the petition, but then again as long we get our Special-Edition dvd anything goes.

Quote: I haven't signed the petition, but yet I'm still a fan of Balto. To me, signing the petition is like giving your last penny to the needy, it probably won't help me in anyway but yet it won't help you. All I can say is, keep trying and good luck. (Yes, I know how long the petition has been on the site.) I don't really understand that logic...And well, contrary to the penny, signing doesn't cost anything...

Why not make it mandatory when you sign up to be on this site , to sign the petition?

I haven't been on in a while, and yet I still see problems like this
As Alpine mentioned, members come and go. It's not like once you join, you're here until death.
Look at me, I've been and gone about three times now. People have lives outside of the computer (however, there are some exceptions, like those who play World of Warcraft 24/7 lol)
But as for the petition, I can see why it is annoying. With all sorts of active members, how come there is a shortage of names for a petition (what it is about, I haven't the foggiest). And this is one of the reasons why you don't have many names.
Some members, like myself, have not been on the site for a while and thus have not bee informed of the goings-on. Others reasons are that some haven't got time or do not wish to sign
so yeah.....that's my two cents

Well that's not exactly the topic, but as I said, that's the same for any site. I'll try to improve that situation (I'm talking about the petition), although it seems I'm always the only one to really try to make things change, and it's becoming tiring. That's why I'm a bit glad to see this topic, at least someone else care. I would love to try to help improve the situation, however, we have zero influence on the creators decision when we're alone. As for the petition, I signed it. What we balto fans COULD do, could've been talking the Balto creators into giving away their rights on the Balto films to the animators of BaltoSource, and we would be able to make our own movies, and share them with the public. This, although possible, is likely to never happen, unfortunately. But on-topic, I see a lot of old members returning to this site as well, and new members appears all the time. I find it pretty impressive that a website about a movie(-chain) has been able to survive for this long, and steet, you deserve all good words for your efforts. But ask yourself, why this is so successful? It's because of all the new balto fans that aids steet as best as they can. There is also a minus-factor playing a part here, which has taken upon itself the wierdest name: Community. The real-life community, yes, I mean people around you daily, not in the forum, have their influence on many members as well. Not only does today's community require teenagers to act maturely, but it also forces them to push away small "childish" pleasure, f.ex the Balto movies. This also plays a factor in what the original poster has written. Simply put; this is life. If the community around people didn't have any influence on what they like, dislike or are forced to push away, I would bet every penny I have that BS would have twice, if not thrice the aumont of members it has now. Wolflux out.

I think that the petition will only fail if people say 'oh online petitions never work so I can't be bothered.' That's like giving up before you've even started. Online petitions can and do work. Look at the last one. At least we got an answer.
Unfortunately, it seems Universal do not realise that the market for animated films extends to more than just childish sequels. Even their successful films like the Land Before Time which made tons of cash from the sequels - still gets a crappy DVD with poor picture quality and extras for toddlers. Poor Land Before Time, it was a Don Bluth masterpiece that all ages enjoy, yet Universal is too ignorant to believe it. For a period in time, Universal had the rights to the film Watership Down, and I've heard that their DVD was atrocious. Amazingly poor picture quality and no special features at all. Luckily, the film has been sold to WB who know more than Universal in marketing an animated film. And Universal HAVE heard of Special Editions - look at the DVDs for The Mummy Returns and other such films. It's just that films like Balto were not made with a big budget with fancy special effects, so therefore Universal regards them as 'mindless kiddie fluff.' And that's a shame, because I've seen Balto and so my friends has too, and for a family film, it's actually very mature.
I think that our petition will get an answer. And if it fails, try again. Balto deserves a second chance. All of Universal's animated films deserve a second chance.
