Lol, I agree. The most I ever put on my dogs is a bandana. But when people put preppyish clothing on dogs, its kinda funny. XD In a not good way.

I don't think it's wrong at all. In fact I have several outfits, bandannas, fancy collars and even doggy-winter boots for my dog. She doesn't mind them on and neither do the people around me. I don't see how it makes them look "foolish", and other then the fact that I'm "forcing" (which isn't true, she allows me to put it on) her to wear it, I don't see anything wrong with it. If people (like me) are willing to spend extra money on clothes for their dogs, then so be it. It's not hurting anybody.

I agree with you Outlaw.
Personally I think it is OK to dress dogs as long as they don't mind or it is for their protection.
Here are a couple of links to articles on the subject:

no, i don't agree with dressing dogs. AT ALL. Ceasar Millan, the dog whisperer, says that if you dress a dog up, with those little outfits, you ae 'humanizing' them. you are not treating them like dogs. and that, believe it or not spoils a dog and causes them to be bad behaved. i would never dress a dog, and they don't even like it! so why do it?

I talk to my dog Betsy and treat her as an equal, but it is SO MEAN to dress dogs up against their will! Besides, they look more powerful and vicious without them. XD

My dogs love wearing clothes, I wouldn't even think of dressing them up if it cause them any kind of stress or discomfort or if they didn't enjoy it. In the winter my older Jack Russell will actually grab his sweater off the hanger in my closet and will follow you around until you put it on for him. In the summer, both dogs wear a special "wrap" that looks like a coat with Hawaiian prints on it that has special beads inside that when you freeze it keeps them cool all day. Some clothes can really make things more comfortable for them in the extremes, like huskeys that wear boots to protect their feet when pulling. Mine also like wearing clothes just for fun, tanks especially. I would never make them wear anything restricting like some dog clothes I've seen in fancy catalogs. It's got to be able to stretch and fit comfortably.

There's nothing wrong with dressing your dog up if they like it. Just as long as you remember that it's a dog underneith the clothes, not a little human. It's the HUMANIZING MINDSET not the actual clothes that hurt the dogs. My dogs still know they're dogs, and so do I.

Dogs should only be dressed when it is necessary, as you said. Dressing dogs makes their majesty to vanish.

I agree partially, any fancy "normal" stuff i.e. collars is OK, like you mentioned above. However stuff purely for fashion just isn't on, unless the dog doesn't mind and the owner treats his/her pet like a dog in other ways.

the reason why the dog do not mind putting clothes is because it has been done so many times that the dog has used to it. I mean clothes are not natural to dogs. collars are okay.

I don't do it much either. In the winter, my dogs sometimes wear sweaters and/or booties. For Halloween, a fairly minimal and comfortable cotume or simple autumn bandanna. On a whim, I've put glasses or wigs on them, snapped a picture, and then taken them off (or more likely, rushed to take the picture before THEY removed them!)
I find it rather ridiculous to carry dogs around decked out in frilly little pink things or whatever, though.

I can't see why somebody wants to cover dogs' wonderful fur with clothes. I like only bandanas. :)

Fancy Collars, Bandanas, stuff like that is okay. I mean when we take my Toy Poodles to the vet's office in the winter give them a sweater to keep warm but that's about it.

I agree of what you had to say Moonpool, but animals have fur on for crying out loud
The only reason we give them little sweaters is because they're like 13 and Runt has really thin fur. It looks funny when she wears it but she doesn't mind at all. But Higgy doesn't like walking in it XD
