yes they do. when my dog was a puppy long ago, when he made an acceddent in the house, my parent would ask him if he did it and he wouldnt even make eye contact and just looked at the ground. so it seemed he was embarassed.

I believe they do, including the ones you think they don't. However, I believe that while they have the same emotions, they're a bit deeper than humans'.
For example, if a dog meets a strange man on neutral territory, he will take the time to get the man's scent, observe the way he acts, etc. before he makes a judgement on how much he likes/dislikes this human.
A human may do the same, but a lot of the time will instantly love the dog, or instantly hate it without time to judge.

I prefer the dogs, actually.

Sorry, don't think so. Humans emotions are deeper than animals. The more intelligent something is, naturally the more feelings it has. Of course animals have feelings, but not as deep as humans.

At MightyBalto: Wow, it is so interesting to see how many narrow-minded people are on this site. Unless you used incorrect grammar, you are implying that humans have no emotions. You know, the next time you cry, get mad, depressed, remember your idiotic assertion, and (hopefully) you will realize that you are wrong.

What kind of question is that? Of course they have feelings! And not just love or joy, etc. They have all kinds. And have different ways to show it. Dogs aren't as intelligent as we are, and mostly that's a good thing, when you think about it. They do what they think is best, not the way to make you happy. Why wouldn't they have feelings like those? Then why do they whimper, or yelp?

Of course animals have feelings. They show their emotion, particularly dogs by wagging their tails and perking their ears when they're happy, raising their hackles and baring their teeth when they're angry or scared. Yeah, I'd say they have feelings.

I believe that they do feel jealousy. My dad's dog, Barney gets jealous of Archie. If you fuss one of them the other will sit there and seek attention by whining or rolling over on his back.

It depends on the animal specie. As more complex is the brain, more complex are the emotions. Who knows, some animals may have self awareness. Let me should the different levels of emotions in animals (this is, of course, just a theory based on the intelegence of animals, but it is very plausible):

1.not very inteligent; the only emotions are the very basic ones, like fear or anger. Animals in this level include most invertebrates, fish, amphibians, most reptiles.

2.a bit more intelegent; parental care is present, but nothing more aside from that. Examples include crocodiles, cephalopods (octupuses and squids), monotremates (egg-laying mammals like platypus) most birds and some prehistoric reptiles like dinosaurs (which are known to had parental care).

3.medium level; love and other more developed emotions are present, but they aren't as deep as ours. Most mammals, parrots and passerines are in this category.

4.higher level; self awareness is present, as well as all deep emotions. Elephaunts, cetaceans, some roedents, primates (including us) and perhaps canines and crows are in the higher level.
