Uhm,In case you didn't know a ride at almost or maybe all parks ((I don't know exactly)) maybe just Disneyland and Disneyworld, but anyhow at the magic kingdom parks there, they have Pirates of the Carribean the ride, which has existed for years. Its not suprising or risky for that matter that disney would make it into a movie at some point in time. Most little children have been to the Disney parks so this movie seems rather famaliar too them in name and appearance ((escpecially after the new additions to the ride))

I would say both beacause, well let me show you. Pros Disney- (The old) Mickey mouse, Cult Classic movies , Don bluth(He is a GREAT animator), Theme park that lasted for years.
Universal-LBT 1-5, Balto (WHY WONT THEY MAKE A BALTO 4), Universal Horror, The Munsters, Jaws,The Dark Crystal, and Hellboy.
Cons
Both-They sorta fell after the 90s. This is because the companies all care about money now. disney-Too many princess movies. Universal-They ruined both Land bafore Time and Balto. And did I mention that are making anothe LBT movie.

I like Universal movies better. In Disney, they make the characters sing to much. I rather the characters don't sing, its not as silly and wierd. XD

This is also why I prefer Universal. They've proven to be capable of matching Disney, and they exclude certain elements which make Disney annoying.
Shrek isn't Disney, it's Dreamworks (the funny thing about you saying it's Disney is that it's pretty much a spoof of Disney)

For some reason, I thought that Dreamworks was a subsidiary of Disney...
Dreamworks is pretty much Amblimation, isn't it?

I voted Disney, simply because their older animated films have just about any of Universal's productions. They're so widely cherished because they have a little piece of Walt himself in them, that's something their newer films will ever be able to take back which is tough to think about but most certainly true. You can tell from movies like the original Cinderella, Bambi and Lady and the Tramp that the makers poured their hearts out to create classics. Universal's movies are full of wit and creativity but they lack that certain "magic" that makes the classic Disney films so darn irresistable.
Just my two cents. Sorry Balto, I still luv you!

I know exactly what you mean! Snow White...she desperately needs a backbone.

Snow White was also released in 1937. The view of women was a little different than today. It was the standard opinion that women were fragile, pretty and needed a man to come to save them if trouble arose.
As for comparing the two production companies, it's comparing apples and oranges. I like them both. Disney has created some fine, fine films for ages. Universal has made some entertaining pieces as well but is cursed by Disney's reputation. So whenever Universal makes something decent, people think its Disney. Although, I enjoy Don Bluth because he adds a unique dark element to his movies which is a breath of fresh air to the Utopian world of Disney.

I have mixed feelings about the Princess thing myself. On the one hand, I'm not too happy about girls idolizing a bunch of princesses whose main goal in life is to catch a Prince. On the other hand, I'll bet the feminists are blowing smoke out their ears over it I like a good romantic element (much to my little brother's ire), but with the Princess movies it just wasn't done the right way, you know?
