I strongly agree with this point. Sure, I have "blow-me-out-of-the-water" characters, but I keep a tight reign on them (I'm sure they've been stolen or referenced).

But that's also not true; my character "Ephit" is plain maroon/mahogany in colour with pure-black eyes and a mane, yet, he's been stolen.

There is no way to stop theft, if they like the image or the character, they're going to take it. This is a wonderful suggestion and all, but the more we try to prevent art theft site-wide, the more people are going to do it, just to see if they will get away with it or not.

This is a problem with no realist solution. As long as you put your drawings on the web, you take the risk of someone stealing it...If you can't accept that, then don't put anything on the web, but then it's a shame.

Dude, draw Balto characters, real wolves, or plain white wolves...those can't be stolen. One who draws wolves with cool markings and stuff are prone to get stolen.

As I've said before, if you're not concerned about your character stolen, go for it. This is pretty obvious, but still, some people don't think about it.

But then, it won't be the character being stolen. With an abundance of "normal" wolves, they'll steal the images.

I mean, thieves see something they think is cool, want it, and take it. Do you think what kind of wolf it is really matters to them? No; they are going to steal no matter what. There is no stopping art theft, character theft, etc. It's always going to be there.

So, would you rather cower and hide your art, not let anyone see? I mean, if you e-mail it to a friend they can:
-steal it themselves
-show other friends
-get hacked, and the hacker steals it.

I don't know about anyone else, but I like people seeing my art. I know the precautions to take, and what to do if my art is stolen. That's all you can do.
