While Total Annihilation looks like a very in-depth, highly detailed RTS game, that is an extremely dangerous assertion, even more so when not backed by reasons. Starcraft is one of the most balanced RTS games, with legendary gameplay. South Korea and other places have massive competitions. One huge tournament is WCG Tour. http://www.sclegacy.com/tournaments/wcg2002.phpIf you don't like Starcraft, that is perfectly fine, of course. Just don't go saying TA is better without good reason, please. Just because TA is ahead of its time, or more innovative, doesn't necessarily make it better than Starcraft. I have nothing more to say about TA, as I have never played it. I am simply defending Starcraft. But remember that when it came out, Starcraft wasn't balanced as well as it is now, and the same with Total Annihilation. Also, SC has three races instead of two, and they're all very different from each other, while in TA "only" the units are different (it's still a huge difference, but not as big as in SC). So why is TA better than SC? First of all, because SC completly forgets navy combats. There aren't ships nor lakes, and sea is very iportant in war (Pearl Harbour, D-day, Midaway). Second, in SC they don't give importance to air combat There are only a very few flying units, there aren't bombers, choppers and this kind of units in SC isn't well characterized. Third, the selection of units: in SC you can only select 20 units in a group, while there isn't this limit on TA; and this limit is a very annoying thing. Four, the single player missions are better in TA than SC, with a better plot (but this is a persional opinion). Five, there are more weapons (especially defensive ones) in TA; and there are long range units (Beerta, Intimidator) that improve the quality of gameplay, while in SC there are only mid range units. And finally, don't forget the soundtrack: if you hear TA soundtrack you can't say that it's worse than SC one, as it's considered one of the best game soundtracks of 90s. I also prefer the way you collect resources in TA (but this is a personal opinion). Maybe I forgot a couple of reasons, but mainly this is why I like TA better than SC. Thanks Togo, that is very good reasoning. While on some I don't agree, they are good reasons. As Starcraft does lack any kind of Naval warfare, that bit of strategy is taken out of the game.

Hearts of Iron II was definitely underrated; most people haven't even heard of it, probably because it only appeals to a small gamer-niche. But it's a great game.

Super Mario Sunshine It doesn't seem like Zelda games are underrated, but I suppose Majora's Mask and/or Wind Waker might be. Well, Zelda games are not underrated in general. The thing with Wind Waker was that a lot of people were put off by the cel-shaded art style. I think the impact was worsen because, a little less than a year before the first Wind Waker images/videos were released, Nintendo had show a short video of a mature, realistic looking Link fighting a realistic looking Ganondorf. Truth-be-told, I think the short video ended up turning into Twilight Princess. As for Majora's Mask, I have no idea. I think people were turned off because they didn't want to deal with and/or limited by the three day system that the game had.

I have to admit, I was a bit edgy on playing Wind Waker because of the cel-shading, but once I did play it, it was quite a good game. Not the best Zelda game, but a good one. As for Majora's Mask, I really took a liking to that game, especially because of the Bomber's notebook aspect of it. The 3-day cycle I thought was a cool addition, I never really felt too "restricted." Any dungeon can be beaten in a day, and you have two more days to explore the differences outside after the dungeon is cleared, like doing the Goron race and such. If people still consider that restricted, there is always the Inverted Song of Time that slows down the time.

My favourite underrated games are the Wildlife Tycoon games - Venture Africa and Venture Arctic. Many reviewers just judge them by the graphics and don't really give them a chance.

As for Majora's Mask, I have no idea. I think people were turned off because they didn't want to deal with and/or limited by the three day system that the game had. Ironically, plenty of people are now saying that Wind Waker wasn't so bad, and that they prefer it over Twilight Princess. I personally agree. Twilight Princess is lacking in the areas that made Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker so great - the whole epic feel and the puzzle solving. Keep in mind that this is not accepted everywhere though. Space World 2000 Zelda (as it is called now) has nothing in common with Twilight Princess, I don't think. I really like Majora's Mask except for the thing you say turns many off. The game would have been every bit as sweet without it...

But it could've been made from an early build of Twilight Princess. I disagree. I think the three day system in Majora's Mask added a very unique twist to a Zelda game. The events that were based off the system added an extra challenge.
