Yeah, I'm not the kind of person to cuddle up with a snake.

Rats The choice isn't up there, but if it was, I'd vote for it ;]. I've had rats before and they were such a joy to have. It's fun to play with them, even though you do have to handle them gently ;]. They're very clean creatures (atleast, the ones I had were XD). Second choice would be cats/kittens or dogs/puppies. Pretty much 'cause I have both a dog and a cat. Cat's are really easy to care for, even though they do act superior to you XD. Dogs are loyal and you can play with them and all that jazz .

From my past experience, gerbils tend to get sick easily (From food-poisoning to cold weather) and they don't do much damage until one of them ran into the sewer and you the would have to spend all day taking it apart and looking for your gerbil, I had to do that once, kinda funny in retrospect lol. Nevertheless, they're cute and cuddly pets to have. Also, it's hard to believe but pigs are said to like to be clean .

They both developed tumors, but they lived their usual length of life ;] My old neighbours used to have a pig. I'm not sure if they do anymore, but his name was...Morton, I think XD. He was really cute when he was small, but then he grew really big and it looked as though he could break through our fence O.o XD. He was quite clean, though, and well behaved as well.

You're really lucky, my gerbil died no long ago of pneumonia, I didn't even know that he was sick too busy studying for the exam, but at least he's been with me for 2 and a half year and that's good enough, right? And I've never seen or heard of anyone here in Japan that kept pigs as pets before (Except farmers and agricultural factories of course), but is it hard to keep one? I mean like do you have to build a pen and stuffs? Or just let them stay with us like domestic animals? I went to cousin's farm before and pigs were kept in a big pen and oh god...they always made loud piggy noises and the piglets were too fast and heavy even for me to get hold, I tripped into a mud puddle later then Fire_paw wrote: I voted Virtual pet. Uh huh, they are fun to play with, yes, but of course they can't beat the real things because they use AI and everyone knows that AIs only do what they were programmed to do so there will be a restriction in some areas, I imagine that when all house pets (Not pests) are extinct because of global warming and excessive use of plastic bags, we'll probably have virtual pets as friends and live in glass houses ...me and my imagination lulz

Meeko wrote: If you are going to get a new animal, I'd suggest some goldfish. Believe it or not my goldfish are rather affectionate. They follow whoever walks near their tank...and are unafraid when I need to fetch something from inside it. They are very sociable and accept new goldfish without much problem. I would not say they are easy to take care of. Almost every book you read about them states that they are one of the easiest pets to take care of. I have had a lot of fish die on me due to overfeeding. All of them died from constipation or swim bladder disease. With the right care they will live for 10 or more years in a tank. My Gurgle is more than a year old now. Gurgle! ^_^ Cute name. Like the Royal Gramma from Finding Nemo. Anyways, I have to agree--fish are wonderful! But as you say, even goldfish are not all that easy to keep. Still, they can *really* be worth it in my opinion. I've had mainly tropical freshwater fish since I was very young, all named (and some goldfish too.) Many of them have lasted for quite a long time. My current pleco is several years old now. And fish really do have individual personalities! You get to know them and they will come greet you when you walk over (or, if they're the unfriendly or shy type, run away!) But yeah...I'm a huge fish fan. I bought a new gourami yesterday and at the aquarium store, I enjoyed watching them all so very much. *sigh* Some day I hope to graduate to the saltwater level. But I won't be at that point for quite a while. Unless I befriended someone who had experience with it.
