I think everyone agree with her singing. But come on, it's only 3 minutes out of 78...Don't forget that they are forced to make a minimum of 3 songs in the DTV sequels (dixit Universal executives...)

Because it's Universal's way of making DTV sequels...DWK (associate producer of B2 & 3) told us that. Since the public aimed is children, they are forced to make 3 songs. Well, I believe it's even worse with Disney...

And does children really like songs in cartoon? When I was a child I used to hate songs in cartoons...and I hate them also now...

I asked the same question to DWK, since I didn't like the songs in animated films when I was young too. And he said that it's proven that children like songs in animated films.
I'm just wondering how they do their statistics...

I agree, that's one reason I enjoyed Balto. No cheesy songs. Maybe they aim at two and three year olds. Most of them love annoying perky songs.

Yeah songs in cartoons are superfluous, and very irksome...yah, it's a cartoon, but it's not normal that a character starts to sing every two minutes!!! Moreover, all the characters "by chance" can sing (why, of course...). I never understood why they say that children loves songs in cartoons...not least coz...I never saw a child love a cartoon's musical moment! Maybe it's only for the economy of the producers...

Well, now that I've watched the movie again (this has been my second time watching the film; the first was on Jan. 30), Stella's song really wasn't that bad the second time around. The first time, I was all "OMG?! What the heck is this?" or something like that. Maybe it was all because I was a bit surprised about the song (I hadn't listened to the songs prior to seeing the film), so it was a bit shocking to hear this type of song in a Balto movie. However, the second time around (last night) wasn't all that bad! Maybe it was because I put captions on the screen or something . . . .
I think the idea of only three songs is a good thing for DTV sequels. Put in too many songs, and you'll be making "Balto: The Animated Musical Sequel". I mean, I love the songs in some DTV sequels (mainly from the Balto onoes so far; Disney hasn't impressed me yet, with exception of TLK2), but I think many DTV sequels are much better off without any songs, especially if they make any of the animal characters sing (that sorta scares me a little, unless the character can sing very well).
IMO, I actually like the singing only if it's done well! Too many songs will make me go insane, and too little songs will bore me (lots of talking gets boring for a while, ne?). So the whole "not too many-not too little" idea for DTV sequels having only three songs is fine with me. Even if they last for three minutes. Now if one lasts over five minutes . . . . . some character won't make it to the end of the movie . . . . .
Okay, okay. I'm ranting! Sorry about that . . . . still, I don't think the singing parts of movies are that bad. I mean, as a child I loved the songs in Disney movies (before they made the horrible DTV sequels to them of course). I mean, they were catchy and most of the times, they helped set the mood in a different way than just saying straight out how they feel. (Almost like a Broadway musical, except with the lack of much of the dancing and not many songs of course) It's seems more "dramatic" when a character has a different way of expressing their emotions . . . . but that's just me anyway . . . . .
(I took two semesters of Theater class in high school, so yeah . . . . I like theater a lot, but I'm more of the artistic type (drawing and making stuff) . . .)
Um . . . need I say more?

mmmf.. if the original movie doesn't have singing characters.. then their sequels shouldn't either.. unless it helps the story.. I'd puke if Balto sang a cheesy song with Boris and the Polar Bears..
