From what I know the story has changed and hasn't changed. You still go around collecting pokemon to fight for your 8 badges then the Elite Four and the Champion.
You remember Team Rocket from Gold? Well there's a criminal team like that who's main location is Sinnoh (the region where the new games take place).
You also have a rival like in past games. Up until the 3rd generation games (Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald) your rival had this evil/snooty attitude towards you. In Diamond and Pearl you and your rival are still competing to be the best trainer. However there will be times when you have to work together...

The main changes to the story is the land, your rival, the team and its evil goals, and maybe some puzzles at different location dealing with rare/legendary pokemon; enough changes to make it fresh.

Heads up: Since my old PC exploded in my face, I've had no way to play online. That leaves just me and three dumb Macs (Only one has internet capability). If anyone could gimmie a few pointers on how to get online with a DS, I'd love and cherish you forever. O.o

Anyways, basic equipment you need is some type of wireless receiver that hooks up to the internet (wireless computer router, computer wifi antenna or other devices). Don't you have a WiFi Max? You'll also need your DS and a wifi compatible DS game.
A router can get a little complicated when it comes to connecting a DS...

Make sure that whatever device you are going to use is hooked up and ready to use. Then turn on the game. Each WiFi game has a menu item for "Configure WiFi Settings" (or just WiFi Settings) which is normally found under "Nintendo WiFi Connection" or its abbreviation (which eludes me).

Once there, tap the big blue button "Nintendo WiFi Connection Settings."
Here you'll have up to three Connections and a button called "Connect to your Nintendo WiFi USB Connector. Unless you're using the Nintendo Wifi Connector, click on one of the Connections (should be empty).

With your device on and working, tap "Search for Access Point." Your DS will now search for your device. Once it has, tap it on the screen. I believe your DS will now do a test for the internet using the device. Assuming everything went well, back out all the way and you're done.

How many pokemon do they have now? It must be getting to the four digits, I mean come on! They are not even creative anymore! Also the games lost intrest with me after I turned eight, not getting either.

There are 493 pokemon, which was said earlier in the topic. Please read the whole thing before posting to prevent asking questions that have been answered.

I'm getting Pearl, but as like most of you, I lost intrest in the other pokemon games. Hopefully this one will be better.

Pokemon is amazing. :D I've been playing the games since Yellow/Blue/Red version came out. I'm excited.

I think I want Diamond...I usually go for whichever Pokemon looks more appealing on the front cover. XD

22nd of this month. ^^ Pearl for me, because I like being different.

And somehow...thats not surprising. I haven't seen the covers, but it sounds like Diamond is more fun....unless they are the same with different names.

There you go. That stylus there behind both games is a free gift if you pre-order the game. If you pre-order both of them, you get both of the styluses and a stylus carrying case that fits both of them.

The two games are the same game. The only differences are very minor.

Anyways, you all decided who your starting pokemon will be?
I've picked Chimchar, but I'll have all three of them anyways.
My brother and I are work together at the beginning so that we start with all three. We've been doing this strategy since the first generation.

In Japan, I dunno why Diamond was rated (I think as) #8 as one of Nintendo DS's best titles, and Pearl was about #12, since there's hardly any difference between them.

...Is it because people make the conclusion a diamond is more valuable than a pearl? XDDD

Anyway, I seriously think the Pokémon on the Pearl cover looks kewler. So when you're all begging me to trade with you a Pokémon you can only get in Pearl, I shall savor every second I can delay giving it to you. ^^ j/k

And I pre-ordered the game, so I get that super-cool stylus. :D

Omigawd...I somehow managed to find this group at my school (that's...high school, mind you XD) that's also getting the game. And we're banding together to form this Pokémon union at our school. XDDD It's gonna be soooo funny!! And when people give us funny looks, and ask us if that's Pokémon we're playing, we're gonna be all like "HAAEEELLL YEEAAHH!!!" ^^
