This wasn't even meant for the animal's opinions.
I don't know why Rolla got the idea that I thought animals dislike being called that. I just think its unfair for them......I was lost in my thoughts when I wrote this...I really don't see whats so wrong with my topic. It is ridiculous that its not being understood though. It really isn't that hard to understand I think its wrong to claim an animal. I NEVER said that I thought THEY disliked it until ROLLA decided to believe thats what I was getting at.

I think we're beginning to get a little immature now. Don't blame peoples' opinions for this topic on me. I know what the point of the topic is, and I simply added my thoughts (after all, is that not the purpose of starting a topic?).
I'll try to simplify things one more time. There are 2 different types of ownership: irresponsible ownership (in which the animal[s] are mistreated, not properly cared for) and responsible ownership (in which the animals are happy, healthy and loved).
And, yeah, my birds free-range on 4 acres of UNFENCED land with a creek, and they don't ever leave the property. They know I own them. If I mistreated them, yes, they'd leave. It's a RESPONSIBLE ownership. But ownership nonetheless.

Well like I said this isn't about the animal's opnions. Its about your own.....and I know you are giving your opinion. I just think humans were dumb to start owning animals ever. Sure they may have helped catch food and protect but they can handle the world themselves. They really don't need us regardless of the fact we choose to beleive that. I really started this topic because my stepdad and uncle debated my uncle's whole trip on which of "their" dogs is better. It got annoying and I had to let it out constructively. I thought making a topic might help without making a whiny one about how my uncle and dad were arguing about oh my dog likes do this. oh really mine hates he'd rather.....
I was like ummmm......ok...?"your" dogs are both great.
I'm sorry for blaming you rolla.

Since this topic was purely made to let myself be heard from my random thoughts and irritations and has no point to be here anymore since I know anyone else will probably argue with me over this stupid idea (i thought it would of been ok but whatever.) I want it deleted. I'm tired of hearing the same opinions. I get it....mostmembers could care less about this topic so please delete it. I even doubke-posted just to make sure it gets deleted.

Quote: I disagree with you, IF I pay for my dogs vet bills, buy her food, take her for walks, give her baths, buy her toys, train her etc., then yeah, I own her.
There's no difference between 'owning' a dog and 'having' a dog, both are terms to say that the dog belongs to me, so what's the big deal? I think my dog would be proud to call me her owner.
Definetly AGREE with you

Just because you asked for it to be deleted doesn't mean we don't have the right to post in it. What was the point of posting this if you just want it deleted anyway?
Read what I said. I said that I thought it would be ok but so far everyone says the same thing "animals do not care" Also I never said that you do not own them just because I hate the term....I said I think its wrong. So what? You mean just because my dog "doesn't understand" the concept of ownership that I should take advantage of that?! Thats like flicking a blind person off or cussing out a deaf person just because they do not understand what you are doing. Just because they don't understand it,does not mean it is not wrong. I understand owners will take care of their dogs and say they own them but I also understand animals get abused. So its ok to do this type of stuff because they are yours and do not understand? Thats total BULL.

Wow, Rosetta, time to switch to decaf.
I don't think that anyone said anything about abusing animals on here, not one time. Just because we don't want to agree with you on the subject of semantics is not a reason to fly off the handle and become angry. No one was attacking you, we simply don't agree with you.
And what's wrong with flipping (not flicking) off a blind person? What if they're a jerk and deserve it? And if they can't see it, it's really all the same to them isn't it? Now, by no means am I suggesting that we run around and knock blind people over, or rearrange their furnature so that they run into things, but really, what you don't know can't hurt you. Dogs don't care if you say that you own them. In fact, it's probably closer to say that some dogs own their humans, given the ammount of money and time that they spend on them.
In short, don't get angry because nobody jumped on the bandwagon with you. And just because you want something closed doesn't mean that we should just close it and walk away. We're still talking here, and quite civily at that.

Ehh no I wasn't trying to switch the topic. I was using thoser as examples, even the abusing animal one. Someone did mention proper ownership here though so it fits that comment.....but thats just it. I think us humans who pollute our world and do so many horrible things to our environment do not deserve to "own" an animal. This is what I was really aiming for. I have trouble saying what I want when i start off a topic. Then I get into what I was trying to say when I talk about it more. Thats all. Well I already asked for it to be closed too so FYI don't be surprised when its locked tomorrow. i just wanted to hear opinions and I heard as much as I want.....no problem with that is there? It is MY topic afterall.
