Wolves have always just been big, wild dogs to me; and they still are (unless you have one as a pet; then it's just a big dog). I find it unfair to sterotype any animal; especially an animal that's just a wild variety of your own house dog. Wolves are naturally shy animals who don't like confrontation. Any attacks on humans was done by a rabid wolf; not a healthy one. They didn't realize this back in the 'fairy-tale' days, and instead labled the wolf as a killer in children's stories.
But, even though we know now that this is not true; that wolf attacks were the result of an infected animal; we STILL like to make wolves evil. Here's an example: A person who keeps a wolf chained in their backyard beats and starves the animals. The person goes on with his daily beating schedual and lives his life uninterrupted; but when the wolf finally bites it's cruel owner in self-defense, the WOLF gets the blame.
"it's a wild animal that shouldn't be kept as a pet!"
Here's a secret; maybe if the wolf was raised in a happy, abuse-free enviornment, it would've turned out to be a safe, loving companion animal...
It's like a playground: bullies pick on the smaller, weaker kids. Humans are the bullies picking on the wolf...but let the wolf attempt to defend itself and suddenly it's a "dangerous blood-thristy beast".
Believe it or not; those fairy-tales really do leave an everlasting impression on the ever-impressionable human.
