THE MISFITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Black Flag
Dead Kennedys
T.S.O.L
G.B.H
Refused
Amen
Operation Ivy (Tim and Matts old band before Rancid)
Sick Of It All
The Ramones
Bad Religon
The Sex Pistols
These are a few "oldies" off the top of my head, guessing you've heard of the more well known ones I mentioned like Ramones. Made a list a few posts back on the first page, check out those bands if you like good ol' straight forward hardcore punk!

Oh sorry that's my bad, for a while they had that on their myspace page I see that's changed now what say they don't care what type of music they play they just want to sing and play. Thanks for the update them in music cat.

Funny how Squival and Starsky_Hiro are the only ones who know what actual punk is.

Although Sum 41 has agreeably changed genre(s) over the years to punk-Half an Hour of power, Alternative Punk-All Killer No Filler, Metal/metal-punk-Does this look Infected? Generally Metal-Chuck, and Alternative Rock/Punk For Underclass Hero. Well Sum 41 moves around. With that Green Day mostly insists that they are punk, to them they have they say in matter because they 'lords of punk' Green Day the king of punk with over 60 million album sales, and Sum 41 over 7 million rumored to be over ten million but they band has not stated so, so not official.

How can you not say that the older punk is punk? They invented it before all these Sum 41 posers came. Sum 41 and the newer Green Day are not punk. They are pop.
Also, Green Day did not write Working Class Hero. They covered/butchered a John Lennon song.[/quote]
And how can you say new punk is not punk? The newier punk so far has clearly out done old, in sales that is. So how can they be posers if they have done better? Green Day is the most successful punk band in history. Some say they are pop, but themselves as well more will say they are punk. So the middle ground is pop-punk, although they much prefer punk title. Sum 41 says they are punk, with ad ones, like metal and things of that nature with it. Simple Plan is very punk, people who say it isn't just simply doesn't know music genre. Green Day didn't write Working Class Hero, they state that themselves anyone with a brain could go figure that. As well as Sum 41 Underclass Hero, a remake and lyric twist of the song, for their own gain. But they both state they didn't that song.
With that no one can really replace John songs and sing them 'better' because most people hate it because it isn't John, in my opinion Jim Sturgess out does John in singing in any song, of his. Expect for 'A Day in the life' Another thing with they song they covered from John in single sales is far and above his. But not in album sales, no one will ever out due the beattles in sales because of the digital age.

Oh wow. Quote: The newier punk so far has clearly out done old, in sales that is. Nobody need even contest your argument, you lost on the merit of this comment alone. Not that your signature doesn't already speak volumes of how little you know about anything anyway.

Starsky_Hiro->With me, CD sales does matter, although my favorite bands aren't they highest selling NOT BY A LONG SHOT! The only notable high selling band I like is Nickelback. (best selling rock artist 06, album of the 21st century so far, one of the highest #1 hits for a single album in history) For me starsky_Hiro what I know about music genres is what paper and books and what people say about it, not friends. So as for Simple Plan, besides the interviews when they say they are 'punk.' But honestly for them they hardly care they simply make their music, the way they want to. Yahoo music says Simple Plan is punk, their own Myspace says so, MTV says so, Billboard says they are punk, musicguide.com says they are punk, EW.com, even the often lair in most cases wiki says they are punk, as with a larger list of many websites and fansites, as well as fansites seem to be the ONLY ones who say they aren't punk, the ONLY creditable site that has stated otherwise is AOL. They say they are Alternative and Rock. Also in many books I've read, general music guides, and mags like Entertainment weekly, and such say they are punk. Some examples of punk music is Sum 41, Simple Plan, Green Day, and the list goes on. If you want I can get those books I've read and start listing them, for you that is. I say they are punk because most people in the industry says they are, and in general the music authority says they are too. So what it seems to be is what books, mags and most websites, and and music spokesmen, the band its self, although they say it passively not caring hardly at all, they do admit they are punk. VS your opinion and some others, who think punk rock is bad, the new punk is anyway, too me perfected punk.
Anaiyak-> I don't see why people get into arguments I really don't, I find this really fun! Quick thinking, with often with moments of embarrassment, Starsky_Hiro comment made me pause, so I listed my reasons for my pressing opinion, because he pressed mine. SP punk, No! SP not punk. You could say I like to argue, the bad thing about that is MOST people get mad so easily it's pathetic. (Keenly the folks I work with, at work) Another 'hing for you, my sigy says a lot about my personality a great deal, I know a lot, but also don't know a lot. If I don't know something, I go find out what it is I don't know. Don't ask questions, it make problems, that is a very true statement, can we go to the moon? Is the Earth flat? Is there a faster way to the indies by going west? Should we go to war with our allies? It makes problems then comes my personal opinion, "I'll prove you wrong." Can we go to the moon? Yes. Should we go to war with our allies? Yes! Is Simple Plan punk? Yes. Proof? Then I rant, then its your turn to rant. (I repeated myself several times) And if you are trying to insult me anyway. Pick other words then what makes sound like your 12 at the most. To insult me you should have said I'm obtuse to music. That would have gotten my eyebrow to twitch. I most likely talk like you as well, funny world we live in.

Relax, man. This person will come to know that Nickelback, Simple Plan, and stuff like that is crap when they get older. Hell, I used to like Creed.
