This year I have gotten 'depressed' a lot more than usuall... But it's probably from all the stress and just so much falling on me to get done with some of the things I'm involved in. But whenever I am, there's always one person that I can just sit there and talk to (usualy while I'm driving us somewhere. xD) and she always somehow helps without realizing it.

But I have never thought about 'ending it'.. I have too much going for me. Which ends up causing more stress.. but whatever. As they say in RENT, there's no day but today. =] Crape Diem and all that jazz! ;]

I have a friend at school who has a nice house in the countryside in a really pretty village that is virtually in the middle of nowhere with a forest nearby. My dream house, perhaps. She also has an Irish Setter puppy. I'd kill for a puppy. A boyfriend who's a nice guy. I don't have a boyfriend. She's really, really pretty. I'm not. She's in perfect shape. I wouldn't call my shape perfect.

And yet, she hates where she lives. She doesn't care much about her puppy. She hardly mentions her boyfriend. And she thinks she's ugly and fat. She says she's going through a 'life sucks' stage and that everything is 'messed up' around her. She thinks she's being left out in our group at school but whenever you try and make conversation she depresses you or walks away.

I consider myself a happy person and I don't have much that she has.
I also have my mum to deal with (who's often pretty nasty to me.).

People like this annoy me. When they're life is great and they THINK it's bad.

This is a late 19th century poem that I believe has some bearing on what the discussion is. It's one of my favorite poems, because it is a shocking and honest portrayal of human nature. A person can seem to have everything, be a wonderful person that everyone loves and admires and still be desperately unhappy. We don't know what drove Richard Cory to his fate, but for the purposes of the poem, we don't really need to.

Richard Cory
by Edwin Arlington Robinson

Whenever Richard Cory went down town,

We people on the pavement looked at him:

He was a gentleman from sole to crown,

Clean favored and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,

And he was always human when he talked,

But still he fluttered pulses when he said,

"Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich--yes, richer than a king--

And admirably schooled in every grace:

In fine, we thought that he was everything

To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked, and waited for the light,

And went without the meat and cursed the bread;

And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,

Went home and put a bullet through his head.

Actually, two days ago, during our band trip to Disney, I found out one of my best friends committed suicide. I just went downhill. He wasn't that kind of person, and it just hurts so bad. Don't even joke about it.

It makes me sick how depression and self-mutilation is just a soap box and this topic seems a means of doing so. If you had a genuine problem I doubt you would be seeking it in public forums. People with real problems are getting over-looked for emos craving the attention, no-one sees the quiet sufferer or genuinely troubled. Depression is a mental issue and not a goddamned parade.

I have lost many people close to me without reason and every single time I see someone playing the attention act I feel like punching them in the face. Everyone that has ended a post with, "But I am fine now" you have achieved nothing in saying this. I am sick of all the pointless ****** people have to say about touchy subjects like this, for anyone to joke or laugh here just shows how much character you have, which is little. So far I have only seen one or two people identify why they would be depressed, as far as I am concerned the rest of you jerk-offs should just piss off and get over yourselves, no-one gives a ******. You need to talk to qualified people about something like this, and if you're going to talk about it here so openly (Although without any written reason) you are just trawling for some chump to give you the attention you want. And if you think someone being an ******* on a computer is a reason to be depressed, you have no clue. After reading a article in a magazine about this I wonder if we are pussifying the entire planet.

Most of you are teenagers with your whole life ahead of you, you need to harden the hell up because being a whiny little loser will get you no-where. Until you face up to some real problems in your life YOU DON'T GET TO TALK ABOUT BEING DEPRESSED!!

To those of you who read this who have genuine problems I urge you to seek help, speak to a hotline or a counseller, hotlines are generally confidential and they can provide you with the help you need.

So in other words you don't seem to get that it's part of being a teenager. It's what we do. Teens have always done it and just because of your little 'blah blah blah. You all suck.' thing, it's not going to change. Did you see ANYONE here take depression as a JOKE? I haven't! It's just part of being a fricken teenager! All of the screwed up hormons and all that. It happens! Like I said, it all comes with the package! You can tell them "think about someone who has it worse than you" but that doesn't work so well when you are depressed!

And really..! Cussing us out? How mature.

That's because they won't speak up! Is it our problem? Nope. It's not our problem that people who really have problems keep their mouth shut. What are we supposed to do? Hook them up to a freakin' lie detector every time someone is asked if everything is okay?!

That's not something to joke about... o____O

I'm not at all Emo. But I'm not too happy with my life. Mostly because I hate myself. But I don't hate it enough to slit my wrists and starve myself etc. etc.

It's school that makes me so upset. Let's juts say... I'm not the most popular girl in school...

The only times when I'm properly happy is when I'm on the computer, specifically on Balto Source. Or any time I'm with my family or friends. But school takes up 7% of my life... and ometimes I just can't take it...

Anaiyak --->
Guess WHAT!!! Your unbelievable.
What gives you the right to come here and say things like "Until you face up to some real problems in your life YOU DON'T GET TO TALK ABOUT BEING DEPRESSED!!"

You don't know me you don't know what I've been through... you have NO right to judge.
And guess what... I do have depression. It's not something i usally go screaming to the world but, ya know what you act like your all high and might... you need to realize not everyone has had an easy life, even if it hasn't been long.
and if you have something to say to me... do it in PM's.
