They believe it's the 'Chunks N Gravy' mostly, and I heard on the internet that studies showed traces of rat poisening in the food. Whether that's true or not I don't know, but I guess we'll find out sooner or later.
Okay, thanks for the link, and also since its only canned food I don't think I should worry. I only give my cat and kkitten dry food.

But what would rat poison do?Shouldn't they know it hurts everything that lives also polluts the air[/quote] Well you probably already know that Rat Poison is highly poison for humans to consume, but it's worse for dogs. Just one tiny lick and they can die within a couple of days. -WhiteWolf- wrote: Okay, thanks for the link, and also since its only canned food I don't think I should worry. Your welcome, and if your cats had only one or two cans it should be fine..
Edit: Oh, there's an article in my newspaper that says that it WAS rat poison that killed the pets. It said and I quote:
TORONTO -- Rat poison has been found in pet food that sparked a massive recall and sent a scare through tens of thousands of pet owners across North America, but officials said yesterday they still don't know how it got there.
The pet food is produced by Mississauga, Ont.-based Menu Foods and is blamed for the deaths of at least 16 cats and dogs.
OWNERS SCARED
"Our hearts go out to many thousands of pet owners across Canada and the U.S. for their losses and worry," Paul Henderson, president and CEO of Menu Foods, said yesterday in Toronto.
"Over the past seven days we have spoken with almost 200,000 consumers. They are scared. Some, like myself, were angry. They demonstrated a level of care and concern that only those of us who are pet owners can understand."
The comments followed an announcement earlier in the day that New York state officials had found a toxic chemical used to kill rats and treat cancer in recalled dog and cat food produced by the company.
Traces of aminopterin were found in tests of food suspected of causing kidney failure in cats and dogs, the officials said.
Henderson said that the company will investigate how the chemical got into the supply chain.
He added that Menu Foods is uncertain how many of its brands contain the chemical, but that he's confident all of the contaminated products have been recalled.
Last week, Menu Foods issued a massive recall of its products on reports that at least 10 animals had died after eating wet pet food. That recall is expected to cost the publicly traded firm up to $40 million. A list of the recalled products is on the company's website http://www.menufoods.com.
Winnipegger Allan Scheirer had his cat put down earlier this week when a vet suspected its kidneys had failed.
Scheirer, who plans to join a class-action lawsuit against Menu Foods, said he was stunned to hear rat poison might have killed his cat.
"I don't know how something like that could happen," he said. "It's one thing for your pet to die, and it's another thing to think that's the reason."

That's horrible, I would be so upset if my dog died from that..

After seeing the list; it brings me to another point entirly.
One of the contaminated brands are Iams; a very expensive food. Another brand on the list is Western Family, one of the cheapest brands you could buy. This being the case, doesn't it make you wonder? The same food is being put in both cans, but they're charging you MORE for Iams simply because of the label.

So that means they can double the price, even though it's the exact same food? Seems like a rip off to me...

The funny thing is; people are simple enough to believe it
A word of advice to people who use Iams: THEY'RE LYING TO YOU, FOLKS! You're getting the exact same mush in the expensive food as you get in the cheap food. Stop giving in to their bullcrap. Iams is no more nutritional then the no-name brands

That's true, very true. If your going to feed your dog Iams you might as well just buy no name.
Lets compare it to my dogs food, shall we..
Turkey, Chicken, Turkey Meal, Chicken Meal, Potatoes, Herring Meal, Chicken Fat, Natural Flavors, Egg, Garlic, Apples, Carrots, Tomatoes, Cottage Cheese, Alfalfa Sprouts, Dried Chicory Root, Taurine, Lecithin, Rosemary Extract, Vitamins/Minerals, Viable Naturally Occurring Microorganisms
There's no grains and alot of meat in it. A 28 pound bag is about $65 after tax and lasts about two months.
and now.. lets see Iams
Corn Meal, Chicken By-Product Meal, Ground Whole Grain Sorghum, Fish Meal (source of fish oil), Chicken, Ground Whole Grain Barley, Dried Beet Pulp (sugar removed), Dried Egg Product, Chicken Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols, a source of vitamin E, and Citric Acid), Natural Chicken Flavor, Brewers Dried Yeast, Potassium Chloride, Salt, Flax Meal, Vitamin E Supplement, Ascorbic Acid, Beta Carotene, Vitamin A Acetate, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Thiamine Moninitrate (source of Vitamin B1), Vitamin B12 Supplement, Niacin, Riboflavin Supplement (source of Vitamin B2), Inositol, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (source of Vitamin B6), Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid, Sodium Hexametaphosphate, Calcium Carbonate, Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Manganese Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Potassium Iodide, Cobalt Carbonate, Choline Chloride, Dl-Methionine, L-Tryptophan, Glucosamine Hydrochloride, L-Carnitine, Rosemary Extract
You only have to read the first few ingredients to see if the food is good or bad, but anyway.. a large bag of Iams or Eukanuba (which are made both by Procter & Gamble, I'm not sure how big the bags are) is $65 dollars. A 40 pound bag of Store brand dog food, with the EXACT same ingredients as Iams, is $5. Which would you rather have? The largest bag lasts my neighbors a month or less.. they have one dog, same as me..
It's quite pathetic..
