Oh....where do I start? I'm gonna go in a chronological order: Seek And Destroy, The Four Horsemen, Metal Militia ( Kill 'Em All album); Fight Fire With Fire, Ride The Lightning, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Fade To Black, Creeping Death ( Ride The Lightning album); Battery, Master Of Puppets, The Thing That Should Not Be, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Leper Messiah, Orion is pretty cool, Damage Inc. (XD), ( Master Of Puppets album); I gotta say that the ...And Justice For All album is my ultimate fave with songs like: Blackened, ...And Justice For All, Eye Of The Beholder, One (no comment about that one), The Shortest Straw, Harvester Of Sorrow, The Frayed Ends Of Sanity, To Live Is To Die (my favourite instrumental song from them), Dyers Eve (it's good); Enter Sandman (this one brings back memories), Sad But True, The Unforgiven, Wherever I May Roam, Nothing Else Matters (best ballad of all time), Of Wolf And Man, The God That Failed, The Struggle Within ( Metallica also known as the Black Album); King Nothing, Hero Of The Day, The Outlaw Torn ( Load album); Fuel ( Reload album); Turn The Page, Am I Evil?, Blitzkrieg, Breadfan, So What? (XD) ( Garage Inc. album); Some Kind Of Monster, Shoot Me Again ( St. Anger album) and also I like I Dissapear (MI II OST CD).....I think I said enough for 3 hours of listening

I've noticed you have started a couple of topics like this but haven't heard of the majority of songs..
I can't choose a favourite because all the songs from the Master of Puppets album are fantastic, it is like one long song that gets better and better. It is definately one of my favourite albums out there.
Ride the Lightning is close though, I have to be honest I prefer the earlier stuff from Metallica, Black album and Justice for All were the last good ones in my opinion. Load was..interesting, Re-Load was confusing and St Anger.. that was a joke. Metallica used to set the standard of Metal, now with St Anger they just copied Nu-Metal. Also the drumming was out of time through the whole album.
Hey does anyone know how the album "Load" got its' name? If you know the name of the album cover then it is a pretty good clue. Not very child friendly though

Well, Metallica had to change with the times, and I respect that. Speed metal doesn't even exist anymore, at least not in the same sense that it existed in oh, say, 1986 or so. The only speed metal we have now is pretty much older bands who still rely on their their thrash. Guitars have given way primarily to drumming in most of the metal scene, it seems to me.
