well is it true that you should most of the time be positive 'cause they dont like fear or unhappiness?

No dog likes fear and unhappiness. They're very social and happy creatures. They can sense fear and sadness and it unnerves them. Likewise, you should never use harsh or negative tones with dogs. If they've done something wrong you should be strict but you shouldn't 'moan' at them or yell and scream.

As for keeping them in pairs, I can see this as a good idea if you're willing to spend a lot of time with them but if you get a pair and leave them at home or day surely they'd just team up... becoming double trouble.. that's what a friend's pair of Rottweilers did. But maybe hybrids are different, I don't know. :D

A hybrid, definetely.

But wolves are wild animals.. not pets. They deserve to be free not kept in a household enviroment

I have little chance of owning a wolfdog whilst I'm in the UK. You have to have a dangerous wild animal license. Despite this, I do hope to one day have something to do with a hybrid.. be it owning one or just meeting one.

I agree with Starsky 100%. I have been reading over 50 sites filled with many Wolfdog care in information for handling, caring for, and breeding wolfdogs, almost half with different ways of doing so.

Here is a site to help with caring if you wish to own a wolfdog/wolf, but i highly reccomend you look up many other sites like i have before you consider adpoting a wolf hybrid. http://wolfhybrid.us/html/care.html

Here is a site where you can see some questions and answers to questions you may have and want to be answered. I warn you that these may NOT be correct, but they are accurate. http://www.inetdesign.com/wolfdunn/wolfdogfaq/

This site explains verterinary care for a wolf hybrid or wolf (in point of view of the author who typed this up). http://www.inetdesign.com/wolfdunn/wolf ... tcare.html

And here are some tips for caring for a wolf hybrid or wolves (also made by a specialist in wolf/wolf hybrid care). Wolf/Wolf Hybrid Care

This site is made by a couple who are caring for wolf hybrids that need homes, but i'm NOT advising you to adopt one as of yet. There is a place on this site where you can visit to see whether or not wolves/ wolf hybrids are legal or illegal to your state (the state you live in in the U.S. or country) Wolf/Wolf Hybrid Adpotions I'll suggest you look at the top of the site's page to where it states 'See if wolves/wolf hybrids are legal in your state or local area' before you look at the wolf hybrids up for adoption.

I would love one, and If you raised it from a pup it wouldnt be dangerous but it would have a very strong prey drive.

No I would not. A wolf is a wild animal. They don't belong as a pet. And when they are a pet, they are much more dangerous then a dog because they are very possessive of their owners. I've done enough of looking up information about that to know. Not only that, though, but it's illegal. If I want to see a wolf, I'll go to a refuge center.

I think that keeping wolfdogs is fine just so long as you are an experienced dog owner, and maybe have some past experience working with wolves. However, I would not recommend them as a first. Whilst wild healthy wolves are not dangerous, wolfdogs are shy animals that can act as wolf-ish as they look. That means scent marking on furniture, picking fights with other dogs, chasing small children (in play) and they require constant companionship. I think that you shouldn't get a wolfdog unless you have the time, resources and space for one.

As for wolves, I say one big fat NO. Wolves are wide-ranging wild animals that should not be kept as pets. They will grow miserable when kept in your backyard and will eventually become aggressive and are either cruelly abandoned or are put down.
If you want a wolf, get a dog. Dogs are wolves that can live with people. There are thousands of loving potential pets in animal shelters all around the world. Many are put down because they can't find a home. Don't get a wolf and makes its life a misery, when you can save the life of a dog! :D

If you want a wolflike dog that has no recent wolf heritage, check out the Utonagan:

They're specially bred for lupine looks, but without the unwanted wolf behavior. Their ancestors are German Shepherds, Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes.

It would depend, a hybrid would be nice coz I could brag but I'm not 100% sure, I'd only own one without any other dogs just because I'd be worried about the wolf part of them being aggressive to the other dogs when it comes to food and walk times, I'd be worried that they'd try to take over dominance from the dogs I already have and a hybrid might try and gain "alpha position" from either me or my mum if it thinks it could do a "better job".
I'm not wording this very well...erm...I mean if I were upset or having a rough day the dog may see me as a weak leader and assume "alpha" position to maintain a healthy pack.

As for a wolf? No, not unless i worked at a zoo or wildlife centre or national park and wolf pups had been abandoned or thier parent(s) killed or died, only then would I "foster" them until they were old enough to back into the pen at a zoo or wildlife centre. NEVER as a pet, wolves aren't pets and should never be treated like one.

I think that, if possible, I would adopt a pure-bred wolf. If possible. However, I agree that wolves are free and should not be treated like pets.
I also disagree on that fact, as I know (by experience) that wolves are very good pets, IF you have been with them from the start, and IF you know how to raise and care for it. (f.ex walks longer than five miles, for their training, etc.).

Put it this way; if Alue really had existed, her sisters alike, and I found them put out for adoption, Alue would be the first one I'd pick, simply because of the wolfish looks ^^
