I think wolves are actually used as some form of mail service in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.
Also, Dire Wolves and Regular Timber wolves make appearences in Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, but only with the
Blood Moon expansion pack (That's about 5 bucks).
They're fair ended opponents that you fight on BM island, but the regluar wolves only attack if you attack them.
Also, most of them carry dieases (Mainly Dire Wolves, which are scattered all over the place).
However, the best feature of
Elder Scrolls: Morrowind: Bloodmoon is of course "Lycanothropy" (Werewolves), a disease only caught from High Level Dire wolves or werewolves at night (That is, if you survive).
I'm suprised that Vampirism is allowed on Elder Scrolls 4 and 5: Shimmering Isles from what I hear, yet werewolves were completely abandoned. Who knows if they'll make a mod.
Another 90's game for the Mac and Windows is "
Magesty" a Real Time Strategy game set in fictional Middle Age times. Wolves, Vargs, and even Werewolves are monsters in the game that will attack relentlessly untill you kill them or train a certain unit to charm them (I've made entire armies of just Vargs before).
Also, in ANY
Age of Empires games, wolves are Non-Playable, Non-Recruitable fighters. Only Dire wolves will attack villagers if they go into the woods of the map alone. Also, in Age of Empires 2: Age of the Conquerors, in Map Edit mode, wolves can actually fight for a faction. And it gets better, in the Ghengis Khan Scenarios, in one mission, a wolf will actually say something to your army and will join and help you defeat the Franks in the region (AoE 2 is very easy to find these days by the way, compared to Wolf and Magesty).
Wolf anthros are also skins for your character in the hit, yet rated PG 13 and Adult, game "
Second Life". However, they're only playable on the Anthro servers (Which will cost some bling).
Oh yeah, and from the
Star Fox series, Wolf O'Donnel is among one of the many Athropmorphized characters. He's playable in the DS version and Star Fox Assault (But only in Multiplayer Battles). That's one of the more kid friendly games (Which is also up to date).
In
World of Warcraft, Shaman or any magic wield character can turn themselves into a wolf for a speed advantage (Average wolf can cover 120 miles a day) or after advancing some levels a "Ghost" wolf which is a see through wolf that runs at amazing speeds. There's also a cooky version of werewolves in WoW, but I don't know enough about that.
Quote:
In Resident Evil 4, one of the many enemies are Los Comillos (Spanish for Fang) which are wolves from the Spanish countryside, infested with plaga. There are only 15 in the game and they only make two appearances (In the Castle courtyard and outside of the Church). Los Comillos have the potential to rip Leon Kenedy's (Protagonist) esophogus out, but can be avoided by mashing the A, B and X buttons. Also, the plaga will attack with there razor tentacles from the back of the infected wolf.
However, there is a cute, innocent white wolf which you should free from the wolf trap it's in at the very begining of the game as in the middle of game, during the battle with the first "El Gigante" (I don't need to translate that), the wolfie will actually distract the monster and is invicible during the middle of the battle. I really wish I knew what happened to him after that though, the wolf never comes back.
