See, I figured that he did. Most, if not all, of the "main" characters that I've come up with over the years have been based, to one degree or another on myself. If you read famous authors, you can oftentimes find them somewhere in the book, not all the time mind you, but often.
The most striking example for me was during a sort of 'mega-role play" that I participated in over the course of about a year and a half, give or take. Me and the girl that were the main players worked our way through 3 different sites before it eventually fell apart due to mutual lack of interest and her subsequent disappearance from the internet. But anyway, I had a character named Duke, who was a Dalmatian. Originally, he was sort of a jerk; a womanizer and sarcastic type character. However, as I kept playing him, he morphed into a sort of handsome but bumbling and rather slow on the uptake buffoon. In a word, he became much more like myself (the handsome part is up to you, the slightly bumbling social life, right on). As I go, my characters conform to myself a lot of the time, which is perhaps why my fiction isn't all that great.
Your fiction, on the other hand, is very good, so I was wondering if you had the same tendency with Kale.
Incidently, do you pronounce his name like you would pronounce the name "Kayle" or the breed of dog "Collie"?
P.S. If you're out there, Rush Husky, we have a Role Play to finish!

Wow, interesting story! And it's pronounced "Kayle," to answer your question. Oh, BTW, I'm not gonna post anymore of The Trio on the forums, since it's been put up on the site faster than I've ever seen a fanfic put up! ^_^

Rebel -- Wow, thanks! I knew Kale was pretty cool, but "awesome"? Wow! Kale's much more popular than I had anticipated him to be! Can't wait to see what you think of his through the rest of the story!
Your welcome! ^__^ He's not my 'fave' outlaw - I love them all the same! But Steele's my fav in this! He's the Sheriff. How cool is that?! YAY STEELE!!! XDD I hope he wins in this, although I doubt he will XDD Ah well

Once again, i've been sitting at the computer for at least 3 hours reading one of your fanfictions when i should be doing my homework. :)
There's nothing wrong with the writing. In fact, it's even better then Espionage Tactics. But what I can't stand is the plot. Well, generally, the plot is fine. The thing about them being outlaws and falling in love etc. is great. But the whole thing about them dying and going to heaven. Oh c'mon! Heaven's nice and all, but these guys were outlaws! They were lawbreakers! And they're going to heaven? At least make them ghosts or something.
Kira dying was fine. I mean, I actually expected it. (I also thought Kale was going to throw himself off a cliff afterward). But I didn't expect Jenna to die. And then I was like, "Oh no... how's the story going to end???" But then the story just KEEPS GOING! The descriptions were good, but they talk about how much fun they've had WAY TOO MUCH. Even when everything they've ever loved was just crushed into the dirt. They're depressed for a moment, and after a beer, they're smiling like they just got back from the county fair. I wish they didn't say anything, instead just looked at each other, and silently have a conversation, then just clink their beers and finish them off before going outside and getting killed.
Overall, it was fine. 7/10. But it had a lot of potential that in my opinion ended up as :P. It's a nice feel-good fic and it makes me want to be a criminal so i could live the life knowing that i'll go to heaven and meet my true love. Not a message you look forward to portraying, even if the hero is Balto.

Well maybe that's not the message. I say chill.
In my opinion, that was only an oversimplification of the message.
To me, it seems that you could find a lot of messages (hidden and not so much) in almost anything you read, including this story.
We could argue, but I see that's just the message that you found. Too bad it wasn't the one you wanted.
Anyway, I fully enjoyed this one, my friend, in case I didn't tell you already.
Keep writing.

I just finished reading this story. It was exceptional! Very great character development! I grew to know and care for each of the main characters, except Steele... Very sad, I felt what they each felt and it was very memorable for me. Great Story!

I finished your story, and I have to say that I enjoyed it very much. Did anyone else feel just a little sorry for Kaltag? I mean, Balto and Kale got to have some hot coital action while he got bupkis. I dunno, I just felt like the poor guy got left out. Your character development was phenomenal, we got backgrounds for your characters and I genuinely cared about them by the end of the story.
In all, I have only two quibbles, both rather minor.
Firstly, I tend to agree that the heaven ending was a bit corny. It seemed to cheapen their deaths a bit; since we figured out that they get to go and be happy in heaven for all eternity, it seems better that they died than if they had lived. I don't know, I think it would just have more emotional punch if they simply died.
Secondly, Kaltag, Balto, and Kale seem to be quite the 3 man wrecking crew. The fact that they are able to plow through literally dozens of enemies makes them seem nearly superhero-esque and damages the reality of the story somewhat, although, for ought I know, that was the effect you were going for.
I'd be interested to know if you ever read Rotramel the Writer's story "Sawyer Falls". Your story and his seem remarkably similar on several points and I was wondering if you were inspired by his story in some way. If you haven't read it, I suggest giving it a look; it's really quite good.
Your story was really very good. Keep on writin'!
