The main thing to discuss here is how much this section should be restricted.
Before going further, I should mention this : There is no way to know the age of the visitors. So I had to find another way to restrict the use of this box.

I had chosen to restrict with these two parameters.
Now, I feel that if I increase the number of messages requires, there will be a lot of people to spam the site only for getting the required number.
But maybe 3 months is not enough, true. I think I'll expand this to more, and if I do it, I should do it very soon so that the visitors who will not be able to access it anymore won't be too disappointed.

At the same time, if it's too restricted, there will be very few people being able to talk on there, so it might become empty.
But I definitely think I'll increase the length of membership required.
What about 6 month? Or one year? You choose...

I really like a year Steet. But if it does become empty try 9months.

I would say one year, although that sucks for me, because although I have been here so long, this account wont be used for a year until April.

And true, if you increase the number, people will spam MORE. But if you DID do member points I would say to use probably around 300 or so. Because I know ALOT of people have over 500, but there are still many people who have less than that.

And as Danman had mentioned... This is just a fifth wheel to their duties. Insted of Four boxes to watch, now they have Five. And I am sure other mods are not to happy with the idea of watching so many boxes either. How could we help lighten their load maybe..?

I would like it to be one year, but then I would have to wait even longer. ._. Steet if you can remember deleting my old account then can I still get on that shout box? I joined a bit before Maya and had many different names but I didn't join the forums until later.. I hadn't noticed them.. XD

I would like to talk in the "VIP" box with out the annoying spammers and shout box "groups."

And maybe they would if they knew they could get away from the noobs in the shout and roleplay..?

And Chas -> Yeah, I remember being the first Aleu. T_T!!... But then I changed because all these other Aleu's came on who cant ever spell her name right. ITS 'A-L-E-U' NOT 'A-L-U-E'... -_-

Well...when steet first threw up the idea that their would be a "seniors box", I was on the fence of whether or not this was a good idea. But now, after reflecting on it, I question the neccessity of this "VIP box".

Firstly, if there's a one year waiting period as you guys are suggesting...then I believe it's going to be dead VIP box (it's already dead a lot of the time when it's just three months). I'm not saying there's not a lot of people who have been here for over a year (most of them seemed to have left by the way...), but it seems like a small minority of BS. Also, a lot of the people who have been here for a year don't exactly go on the shoutbox a lot (there are some, but...).

Secondly, I've noticed another rant about "groups" on the sb. Isn't this another one of those groups?

Thirdly, how long you've been here does not give you maturity. As well as "noobs" are not exactly all SMS spouting immature children.

And Lastly, I've been on the shoutbox a lot and I admit I have seen some people who are annoying people (wasn't that the main reason the VIP box was created?). However, these people also make up another minority on the shoutbox. And frankly, they are easy to ignore.

One more thing...
Here's a piece of advice for people who are swamped by annoying people on the sb:

Go somewhere else

I mean, seriously the sb is not the only place you can go. There's also the forums, mysapce, email, pms, etc. There's no one making you stay on the shoutbox. Also, you could always do something non computer related.

Phew, I think this is my longest post ever on here. This is my opinon and I do not expect everyone to agree with me...just take it into consideration...for rant's sake...

Also, there are other reasons why this VIP box is unneccessary, but this is what i could think of right now...

I wanted to focus on what you mentioned here.

The Shout Box is not dead. Not compaired to the VIP box. Trust me. You are lucky to strike up a conversation with yourself! Seriously.

And yes, there are ups and downs to this box. But I would also like to point out how no one ever always gets what they want. At some point, it stops.

So for us who hate the noobs in the shout box, we have gotten what we wanted.

For those of you who dont care, also got what you wanted.

And those of you who are noobs and want to come to the VIP box, wont be getting what they wanted for probably a year.

I personally am beginning to grow on the VIP box. I haven't really been in the shout box sense it opened, because it is so quiet, and serine(sp?).

Oh sorry, you misinterpreted me. I meant to say that the VIP would be dead if only the 1 year old people are in there...

NO, it's NOT one of those "groups" since the older members actually TALK and have conversations with the other older members.

And, in case you haven't noticed.. alot of people here aren't allowed to have Myspace OR emails. PM's are fine and I assume everybody here is allowed to do that, but that disables you from talking to 2 or 3 people in the same conversation. The forums are great, but you can't really have conversations like on the Shout Box without going off-topic.

IF you don't like the VIP box, well, take your own advice and go somewhere else. There's two other Shout Boxes for you.
