No we do not just seek out popular artists for copied style >>'' In fact if someone was stealing from 'Apricot wolf' and using her style we would follow the same protocall. How would you like if someone just took your style and started to claim it as original and their own?
But it seems whenever we speak up about this it is always we're picking on the artist. Drawing one thing from a style is much different from taking many aspects and utilizing almost all of them.
The reason this was pointed out was because her style was proclaimed as, "original" when in fact it is quite obvious her style is not original.
The Point is that in the long run hugly referencing and taking other styles will only hurt you.
I'm not trying to bring you guys down, I am stating that if people don't start to really work on their own stuff, own styles its going to effect your art and sometimes the effect is irriversible.

Less popular artists art style is not stolen, I've seen it happen on other sites such as DA and we do alert them, just because an artist is less popular does not mean we ignore style theft of their work. It just happens to more well known artists hence why you see it more often with Pample.

Personally, I can't see Pamles style as so original that I can pick it out from a crowd. Not to say I hate it or anything - she has a lot of talent, and her work is cool to look at - I just don't see her style as "original" in the sense that no one has done it before. However, I have seen a lot of characters that closely resemble hers on the galleries here (white with black markings around the eyes and ears, ect.), and that is what seems distinguishable enough to say "oh yeah, this person took inspiration from Pample.". Still, characters are considered ideas, and cannot be copyrighted. The images that they appear in can be copyrighted, but the characters can't by themselves. Same goes with poses...they simply can't be copyrighted.

steet wrote: We've already talked about this in another fanart topic. The thing is, most of the time it's VERY difficult to know if a pose has been "copied" or not. So, it CANT be a rule. This doesn't mean that mods can't refuse a drawing if it's 100% clear that the drawing has been traced from another one. But for doing this, mods would need to remember EVERY drawing on the site. I don't think you get what I'm talking about, I'm talking about complex poses and "clearly" traced line art. If they traced somebody elses work it's stole and if they copied a pose that strangely enough nobody else had done before it's theft, that's what I mean, I don't exepct super mods just a bit more councious ones. Her style isn't totally original. But it just bugs me that people freak out if there's an ounce of Pample influence, but it seems like influence from less popular artists goes unnoticed. But I'm not a mod Exactly what I'm saying, but it's easier to know when somebody copyied a popular artists because nobody cares for the less popular but talented one, again who is going to stand up for them? What the flip? if a person puts time and effort into their speacial character and make something very original they have the complete copyright for it. You can copyright and idea if it's original enough. When an artist creates something is personal they want to "share" it and maybe even show off a bit what ever. But when someone copies that just shows 0 respect for the author's work. Quote: The thing that REALLY gets on my nerves now is the big fuss over Pample's work. Yep it shows up so much that we already have people even here making war for a simple opinion. I completely agree.

Please do your research. I'd suggest reading this if you would like to know more on the subject of character copyrights. Quote: You can copyright and idea if it's original enough.
Again, its not that simple. Look up copyright laws on Google.

First off, characters can't be copyrighted, there's over 500 billion artists in this world and not all of their characters are bound to be different, this is completly different from theft. Remember that not everybody in the world has seen Pamples art so they may not know if they are "copying" or "stealing" a pose from her, there's only so many poses in the world..
Also, please remember people, "great" artists like Pample most likely learned to draw from other peoples art, too. There's not enough markings, colors, shapes, sizes and poses in the world for everybody's character to be completely different and somebody else is bound to have a character with the same markings as yours, get over it or ignore it, everybody else does.
I have never seen a picture that has clearly been traced, and I would be able to tell. PM a mod, even if you "already did," maybe you PMed one of the less active ones, try PMing another one who you see on the site alot. Also post a link both the pictures (The copied one and the original) so they don't have to search for 20 mins. to find it.
There has got to be over 100 pictures coming in per day, and YES, the mods DO look at them, but there not going to stare for hours at every single line to see if it matches another artists work. Mods, being only human, are bound to make mistakes, everybody does at times, gasp, even me! Shoot me for it!
I don't even understand the point of this topic...

It's not like people in BS are going to go around suing half the site for using the characters, even if it's a law it's an idea, who cares about that, you won't go up in a topic after somebody found art some person clearly stole and say the're in their right to do it.
and for the people who feel this is pointless then why are you even posting here?

Maybe I should add something like :
"When you submit artwork on the site, keep in mind that anyone could be influenced and could try to copy your style or your drawings, and that you shouldn't complain if it happens. The best way to protect your artwork is to not display it"...
But I guess many people won't send anymore drawings if I do (even though it's the truth)

Like I said in another topic, IF you post something like this on a PUBLIC forum, we CAN and WILL post our opinions, even IF we think it's pointless. You should know that by now.

I agree with Kahvie. Everyone on Balto Source who is a respectful artist have their own style, but remember that all are a variation of the style from the Balto movies. Some are clearly different of course, like Kahvie for example. But Pample has got great art and a nice style, but it is a variation of Balto and if your art looks the tiniest like Pample's then it could just be a coincidence. I am not saying that people don't steal her style and art because that does happen. I'm saying that if your art resembles her style slightly its no big deal because it's NOT her original style. It only looks slightly like it, some maybe more than others and I have to admit that Amber Sea has got quite a resemblance, so I agree on that. But I agree with Kahvie, I don't find Pample's art the 'original'. I am not argueing with anyone or taking sides. This is just what I think.

The ears are in a traditional Baltoish style but with more fluff. The faces are about like a slightly more realistic Balto style. All-in-all, I don't think Pample has some HUGELY original style. Kahvie's style for example is out-of-the-ordinary. Using a different style in fur and movement that many artists. Pample's oh-so-unique style is really not that unique.
Of course it isn't.Since 80% of this site has her style. And I guess she's not so-well-satisfied for this.

I have to say I disagree with that. In all honesty, the majority of the work on this site seems to be balto-style. And even without the "style theft," I still don't see her style as something that stands out from the crowd (but I still see her as very talented, don't get me wrong). As I said, the only theft I have seen on this site concerning her work is characters that look almost exactly like hers, not styles that look like hers. But that's just my opinion.
