"Yipe!" Shadow cried out as he was almost attacked. "Now I think I see your point." Then he looked around for a safer place. Then he thought of an idea. "Quick," he then said. "This way!" Then he turned a corner and disappeared into the trees.

Aurora was a bit scared... but she followed without much question.

Shadow led Aurora to a cave and quickly rushed inside of it. Then he ran through the darkness of it, following his sense of smell.

Aurora had a very keen nose, she also had keen ears. She followed hte gentle paw steps and almost ht a narrow wall. "OOF!"

"Be careful now," Shadow called back. "Just follow the sweet sound of my voice." Then, after what seemed like forever, he finally reached the end of the cave. "Come on," he said. "You're almost out!"

Aurora didnt know what to think about that comment... he was like the Black Savior that her father talked about... before they came! She kept her breathing shallow to keep her tears from being heard. She really had to bite it back since she was in a cave.

Shadow then finally led her out of the cave and went straight to a river. Then he hid in the bushes. "Come on!" he called out again. "Follow me. It's safe here." Then he paitently waited for the female to come out of the cave and follow him.

Extras: Loner. Parted with siblings shortly before meeting the others. Has slanted eyes. Long-legged, large paws and ears. "Streetwise," is a skillfully adept fighter. Has great respect for the Spirits of the Borealis, "worships" them.

Farther away, where a cave overlooked a precipice leading over the hurtling edge of a valley, a young male wolf slept, his nose tucked under his tail. Orion was only about 3 years old, a little less. He had parted with his family only a moon ago, and was now living on his own. He was an adventurer, and had no rpoblem living without campany: He had enough from the nature that surrounded him.
"Street-wise-would-be" Orion was independant, and loyal to the Stars of his world: His ancestors of all before him. Each night, he would pad outside his den to sit on the precipice and overlook the dark valley, and listen to the river below gurgle as its water sploshed over stones.
Now, he opeend an eye and looked out. It was bright, the sun was nearing its zenith. Slowly and leisurely, Orion stood and streched. He wanted to hunt today, something he hadn't done in nearly a week. He stood out on his cave-entrance, looking down over the valley. It was secure here. It was very difficult to enter, or leave, this cave, because of the sheer drop. But Orion had discovered a small, narrow escape passge, hidden by bracken and bushes. Only small creatures and highly adept trackers could find their way in. Orion looked down the small pathway, sighing. Taking a last look at his cave home, he nimbly leaped down the rocks onto the path and slowly and cautiosly followed it. High-natured as he was, Orion knew better than to go down the pathway any faster than a slow walk: If he fell, he would be sent tumbling down into thorn-covered plants, and then rolloed down a hillside to be flipped of the edge of the valley and plunged into the river below.
The harsh plants grew too close to the pathway to see through them; Orion could only see a bit of a pale sky through their openings and see the other side of the valley.
Once he landed on the ground, he turned around and padded out to the front of his cave, carefull not to fall. Another gaping place stood, waiting for an unlucky victim to slip. Orion walked by it, and then leaped out onto the flat boulder. It was like the size of a dozen wolves lying together, spread apart - it was large. Orion occasionally found himself sunning himself on it; but now was not the time. Hunger got the better of him, and he galloped off the rock, dodged some more bracken, and then flew out into open space.
he looked up into the sky, reminding himself that the Northern Spirits would come again tonight. The Aurora Borealis would shoot across the sky, and he looked forward to being able to share their magnificence on the lip of his cave.
Orion turned again; he had scented a rabbit, and knew what to do.

Aurora nodded and silently came out. Her eyes flashed a rainbow of colors suddenly and then returned to normal as she stepped out of the Aurora Borealis light.

Is it night now?

Anyway: Orion's ears pricked at the sound of prey rustling in the ferns ahead. Slowly ducking, he prepared to spring.
Suddenly, the creature shot from the undergrowth. It was no rabbit, but a squirrel. Knowing full well that his chance would be thick of catching it, he darted after it anyway... he could do with a good chase....

Aurora just stared at Shadow, "What is it?"

Orion looked up. darkness had fallen quickly, and he hadn't realised that the squirrel had lead him straight out into open land. The Borealis were lit. halting in his tracks, he looked up. "Spirits of the North, hear me."
He watched as a small multi-colored, always changing swab of light began to decend to him. He waited as a cool air blew, and the light entwined him. "I want to ask," he began, "How this fammish has come? Why I have not seen a speck of decent prey besides the squirrel?"
He noticed the silhouette of two creatures on the far side of the valley... but they were close now, much too close. He waited intently to be answered.

Then, out of the misty glow, a form began to appear. The body of a wolf. It's head was bowed, though there was nothing destinct about it. Gradually, the wolf became clearer, and it looked up. The face of a beautifull she-wolf looked at Orion. "Brother," she began, her lilting voice carrying, "Hunters and trappers are on the far west side of this valley. You must be carefull."
Orion nodded, understanding.
"I will. And," he added, "What was that dream I had a moon ago? Starleaf sent it to me -"
"That is between you and Starleaf," the she-wolf ended. "And now, it is my duty to return to the skies."
Orion watched wordlessly as the wolf turned away, and ran up the spiraling colors o the lights, back into their band across the sky, before she vannished. The beam of light began to float up again, but not before a hanting voice called out,
"Friends will join you, foes will haunt you. Times are dark. Keep closest to you your greatest heros, and keep far your nightmares. Make them hear; you're not alone... never."
The beam of light was gone - an dthe Aurora Borealis shone across the sky once more, Orion's ancestors forgotten.
Only the strange prophecy lingered.
"What has that to do with "The One born under our eyes?'" he asked himself. "Possibly, he added, beginning to turn, "Nothing." Then, he froze in his tracks. Two wolves, a male and a female, were watching him.
Behind them was a small cave, thugh Orion couldn't see it well. His eyes widened. They had heard his prophecy, seen him speak with the Spirits of the North.

His heart pounding, he dashed away from the scene were Aurora and Shadow had glimpsed a prophet - and the one who could help them.

Shadow looked around and motioned Aurora to follow once more. Then he began to walk towards the beautiful Aurora Borealis. "This is where I live," he finally said. "I live within the range of the Great Spirits of the Aurora Borealis." Then he stopped and looked up towards the skies once more.

Orion noticed that the two wolves were walking away. He paused, panting hard on the icy ground. He looked up. They didn't seem dangerous. Slowly and uncertain, he lifted his muzzle in their direction and gave a short, indicisive howl.

Okami was returning from her long hunt with no food again when she spotted Aurora with an unknown wolf. Instantly she ran twoards her wanting to know what had happened. "Aurora!!! What happened?"
