Seems the majority agrees with me, I am just one of those people who think emos are just trying to get attention, I mean nobody cares you hate life, go die then, and you know why they are not dead? Because they do not really want to die, they just want people to notice them, Goths are fine and are not about hating life, I respect Goths.

That would be a pretty darn good life if you ask me. =]... Lets all die of diseases. 8DD!!

Okay lemme get what you all are doing. Bashing Emo's. Mmmmhmm. Well, lets see. I think Emo's are awesome. They rawk my world. Because.. you know.. its NICE to have someone to relate too. Me and my sister are both Emo. We are close as hell because of it too.

Being Emo isn't a bad thing. Its like saying being Punk or Goth is bad. Its like saying ANY label is bad. Boo hoo. Lets get down to it all. We are all acting like PEOPLE.. Do you know how degrading that is?...

Grow up. All of us.

Why do I like being an Emo? Whoops, didn't have a choice!

It's not really why I wanna be an emo, it's just who I am. I don't aim to please anybody with my label. It's me and I don't care about what they say.

I never really thought about it like that. Sorry.

Well, it's a fad now. All the preps are wearing black, it's really quite hilarious. But they don't know a dang thing about what they talk about. It's, again, hilarious!

Emo doesn't even deserve to be capitalized. Like Adam and Andrew said, it is just a "bad, cheap immitation of goth." I dont care if I'm "bashing emo kids" "EMO" does not even deserve to exist. Technically it doesn't. You're either punk or goth. You can't be both. If you love life, you're not emo. If you like ANYTHING other than attention, you're not emo. Just because you dress in clothes from both Hot Topic and Limited Too, doesn't mean you're emo. Just because you dye your hair in something unnatural, you're not emo.

You're just presenting yourself as something people THINK is cool, when in reality, you look like a hermaphrodite and acting like "Not-so-Happy Sunshine". I don't care if you think its a "good look" for you. No matter what, it looks stupid. And no, its not based on opinion. It is based on reality. "being emo" does not make you "cool." Writing poetry in a LiveJournal is not "cool" You're just secretly exposing inner thoughts in a hypocritical way. Saying you're gonna commit suicide and "the world hates you" does NOT make you "cool." It does not earn you friends. It does not earn you pity. If you're GOING TO...no one HERE will really care. No one. They SAY they do. But they don't. They're gonna forget about you! Its sad, but its true! Besides, everyone knows you're full of crap anyway, so maybe THAT'S why the "world hates you."

Besides, if the "world hated you" why would "emo" be "considered cool"? It makes no sense. All of you "emo kids" are just full of BS. And deep down, you know it, so you ay as well stop dressing like a clown/mime hybrid, stop acting like your puppy just died, and start acting like a fricken human being.

By the way, your depression is contagious. I'm depressed that people love being "emo".

And also, its called "emotional." If you're going to speak the english language, use it correctly.

Wow. That's one of the most true things I've ever heard! Especially that their depression is contagious! They depress the crap out of me.

About as degrading, say, as bashing some young people in another topic because they said they believe in Santa Claus?

I refer you back to that aforementioned (and now locked) topic where you were tearing down on those kids who said they believed in Santa Claus. It is hypocritical to admonish people to grow up (and to wag your proverbial finger at them) when you've behaved no better in another topic.

I'm just pointing out hard facts...

Okay, personaly, emo is a really crappy label. Seriously, it seems like between every person who claims to be emo each one is different. Some do it for fashion, some are actually depressed, some just want to be in with a group. Really, it is horrible for defining for a person.

Yeah, and Maya, right now, people are seeing you and interpreting that as emo. You are now basicly a representitive of all people who call themselves emo. So yeah, that might be why some people are seeing emo as a bad thing, cause they look at your veiws on life, completly disagree with them, and aply that to all emos. So yeah, be careful what you say, cause you're gonna be what people see as emo.

Oh, and I found that amazingly horrible that you made a joke about people who suffer in third world countries. Honestly, that was sick and disgusting in a bad way, and very heartless. Enless you can tell us you grew up in a third world country, watched your friends and family die of starvation, disease, war, then you then you really have no right to talk about any of that in any such maner.

Now, let me see if I understand you on how you veiw emo. Physical pain is caused to avoid emotional pain, of at least make it less painful. Personaly, to me, that sounds like your trying to avoid dealing with your emotional pain, but hey, what do I know, I'm pretty much ignorant about your life. And apparently, you have had some very large emotional pain in your life, though what I don't know. It ain't my right to comment on it and tell you to grow up, cause I haven't been there, but I'll bet someone on this board has. But hey, what do I know.

"Emo" is nothing but a cheap label. People use it as an insult to people who wear black, have long straight hair and listen to metal. It's unfair, in my opinion.

Emo, short for "emotional", is a slang term used to describe a range of fashion styles and attitudes somewhat affiliated with emo music and its related scene. As an adjective, emo can describe a style of fashion or music; or a general state of unhappiness or melancholy (as in to "feel emo"). Emo is also used as a noun, often pejoratively, to identify a member of the "emo scene" or someone viewed as fitting the "emo" stereotype.- From Wikipedia

I've always hated how people, especially "preps" (yet another label. I hate labels, but I can't think of another word to describe it), put down the emo kids and make fun of them. Most people don't choose to be emo, it's just the way they see things and the way they interpret life. It's completely unfair to make fun of them for something as stupid as that. Sure, some emos take it a little too far and get piercings all over their bodies and put on makeup. If you would be afraid of them for THAT, then it's understandable. But being terrified and rejectant of them because they listen to a different genre of music and dress different is insane, and that's usually the reason why most people put them down and pick on them.

No one "loves" to be emo. Like I said before, a traumatic event in their past may be causing them to be depressed or (the trademark emo symptom) hurt themselves in violent ways. It's their way of releasing pain and frankly, we should just leave them alone and let them act the way they want to. Putting them down because they're different doesn't make them change the way they act or view life.

Eh, however, there is also a "trend" aspect to it. The music, the clothing, the hairstyle...the pouty moping around. The melodramatic over-sensitive stuff. Strumming on a guitar...scribbling sappy lyrics on notebook paper...
