Meep. True. I try to write something about were I 'reffed' or whatever. Like I drew my char' Koa.. (Not coppied from the aritist Koa on the site.. -_-...) And she had the box thingie that I have seen LLE do. And I PUT at the bottom that the idea was ORIGINALLY hers. And I dont really plan to do it again, but it was fun to do something alittle different.

Oh, and I reffed out a pic idea that Greykitty had originally done. (Hers was so much better than mine. XD)... And I put at the bottom the link to her picture, and how it was originally HER idea.. or such.

But alot of people, such as Kirada. Her art REALLY is good. But she is always copying poses off of other artist. And most of the time she doesn't even SAY anything about it. ><... But I still think she had potential.

My art, on the other hand, is crap. But still, I will TRY to remember things such as saying the original idea, pose, ect.. came from.

Meep, I had more to say, but it kinda slipped my minddddd. Sorrrry. XD.. Nice rant Cat, by the way.

Totally agreed.I also have to admit that I once copied Pample's pictures. But I stopped, and I found my very own sense of creativity. So, yesh, I'm sorry for copying Pample. But I got REALLY frustrated when I saw a pic in someone else's gallery that looked A LOT like one of my character's design. Also, I have seen someone post a pic of a character looking very simliar to one of Kay fedewa's characters.

I agree with you Cat and Silver Deni, those people do not have that feeling how it is to sit all those hours making one picture because they just copy and that's it. They don't even think about what can those people feel when they see their hard work copied or made worse. Because there is a BIG difference between original picture and a copy

Well most of these members are young artist, that need inspiration. I've seen some of your art Cat, and you took the same exact pose of Balto on a screenshot. And somone else drew that, and you copied the pose. But that dosen't bother me. What somewhat does is when somone accually TAKES the picture and clames it as their own. But the reason why poses are copied and character designs is because these are KIDS that need inspiration. I did when I was younger. I actually am flattered when somone uses the same pose or character design. That means they like your art and want to learn how to draw like that. Now when somone takes my pictures and clames them as their own, I will notify them and tell them they should draw their own and not take somone else's.

Well, is there any reason to not tell them (YET AGAIN) to cite their references? Is it wrong to tell them what WE know NOW what we DIDN'T know THEN, so that they DON'T make the same "mistakes" as us? Are you still "flattered" when they relate their characters to yours in such a way that the resemblance is uncanny and they give you no credit? Like I said before, everything, whether it be drawing another version of someone else's picture or whatever, is FINE, as long as they cite their resources. Then EVERYONE'S happy. The kids get to draw what they want, the original artists get recognition.

I agree, but exept for poses, you can't make millions of diffrent poses, there will always be some the exact same or a little bit diffrent or a lot diffrent, so you can't get mad at anyone for making there character i na certin pose, and alittle bit with style, meaning like the character looks like or they way th artsts pressent there art?

Yes they should ask first and give you credit, but if you put your art or character in the internet, expect it to get stolen. That is why I don't make such a fuss about it.

See, thats not good enough. Its common curtisy for anyone to not steal, as a matter of fact, its something we're all taught as children NOT to do. But that's a bit off-topic (i've discussed this stolen artwork thing before)

If its something simple like a standing pose, no one's gonna notice. But if its a more complex pose...then yeah. You know what I mean.

I understand you completly catwhohas14tails. But I think you should be careful about what you say. For my website, I "borrowed" content from a no longer updated site...Well, no one noticed, but I thought nothing of it at the time. I also copied art, except that I didn't use the same style. I took the style, broke it apart, and tweaked the style. It didn't work very well though because it still looked like his drawings. It doesn't matter because I don't draw art because I suck and I cited my refrences anyways so go have a pumkin pie because thats over with...What?

I didn't really realize what I did untill reading this- so take into account the stupidity of people copying art.

It would be best if this topic was locked because, I've seen so many of these and I'm tired of it. It's not helping. Go out there and delete the copied arts instead of ranting. I don't see how you're helping by letting copycats' galleries through. But nevertheless I agree 100% with you.

Fanartists shouldn't have to deal with this.

P.S. COpycats have NO imiganiton or creativity. I found making your own style is easy! I drew my dog in different poses and changed it a little bit to make a real-looking style! Should I cite my dog as reference? (that was sarcasm) Also, I looked at this one snapshot of Balto sniffing the air and looking up to see wolves, and changed the ears and stuff completely and made a new pose...
Would that still be copying stuff?

Oh, and thanks alot for the insult below. Keep it to a pm, and what you say isn't true. You have to read my whole post and understand it before insulting me. I would have said how you are wrong, but I pmed you.

Do not question my experience. I've been here longer on my other account, which I told Steet to delete, so shut your mouth you moron.

Ok? And who are you exactly to go around this site saying what should and shouldn't be locked? You should stick to what you know and stop talking about crap when you don't even know what's going on. You're not a mod. You don't know a fricken thing about how things are run on this site. And I'm guessing you know SOMETHING about "running your own site" but I'd have to question YOUR motives since you seemed to have stolen everything that belongs to it. Hyporcrite.

If you "100% agree" with me, then why are you questioning my motives for making "yet another" topic like this. If you've seen "too many" topics like this, then maybe you should stop to think about how many fricken times these kinds of things have happened on this site. We wouldnt NEED so many of "these" topics if what they're talking about KEEPS HAPPENING. So if you are sick and tired of seeing "these" topics, I suggest you do something to stop them from being made. Like, I dunno, get people to stop copying crap? But, you know...I don't see how you're HELPING at all, since you're more guilty of theft than any of us here.

By the way, I must say

was THE most block-headed question I've ever seen thus far. If your dog was someone's COPYRIGHTED material, I could see WHY you'd ask such a thing. You no longer have my respect just for "calling me out" due to your constant need to question.

It annoys me how this kind of thing happens, I hate it. ONE good artist like pample shows up and puts one special mark on her character's face and then EVERYBODY is putting similar marks on theor character's faces... that is just Grrrrr why would you do that? it makes you less of a damm artist. if you want to have good art don't copy. if you can't handle copying get ofline listen to music go to the mall or something, I cought some artist copying my poses when I first sent my drawings in (loooog time ago) and still some people copy my poses and I'm not and expert artist, it's very irritating. what gets even more of my last nerves is that some artists have acctually goten famous by copying young unrecognized artists. just because one original drawing is worth crap to a good looking copy of it doesn't mean it doesn't matter. drawing is art, drawing is originality, drawing is what comes out of your feelings. good artists aren't the ones who have most faves, it's the ones who draw because they have something of their own point of view to "share" but lots of pendejos don't have the least respect for that. copying is the last thing you want to do if you want to be a good artist. It's okay to copy if it's just for practice but after your done get rid of it or if you post it get permission. it's not so hard at all, people are lazy. sometimes you can go buy a dog magazine and use real dogs for reference. I want to share my art, but as usual people are ready to steal and copy never to just appriciate. Drawings are like forests, should be appriciated and enjoyed but not destroyed.

Nice one Cat ;) You make a good rant, I must say! Your 100% right here, I have seen many people who have copied others and it is appaling. It just shows a lack of creative skill and imagination. It's good to see someone finnally posting about this bad problem! I hate when people copy, and the people they have copied from, have all the right to blow their head of at them. I have not have that done to me, but if it was, I know I would! I really like looking at the great artists like Pample, Silver Deni, Cat ect. and they all have great styles. I love to look at their pics, but I would never copy them, it's just disrespectful to the artist and their art. I appreciate the art, and wish I was as good as that, but copying their style and art would not make me better. It would only make me less popular, with all members and the artist who I admire, and my art would no longer by mine. It would be a souless copy.
