My dog stole my brothers Valentines chocolate when she was a puppy, and ate it all. Nothing happened, but I don't give it to her anymore..
Carib is like a chocolate for dogs, and my dog loves it..She also loves freezies, popsicles and suckers..Any other candy too, but she only gets those rarely..

Well it all goes back to Theobromine, witch is found in chocolate but it varies by what chocolate it is. It increases urination, affects the Central nervous system and heart.
Chocolate like White Chocolate have very little Theobromine in it so you could give some to your dog because it takes 200 ounces per pound to affect them, while Bakers chocolate is the worst thing for them.

It would take about 2-3 candy bars to poison a 10pound dog. Because there is a bout 2-3 ounces of milk chocolate in the average bar and it's about 1 ounce per pound with milk chocolate.
Play it safe and dont let them get into it because then they'll crave it.

Well my dog is 35 pounds and she was okay. She didn't eat much, but still. Onions and tomatoes are also poison to them. And, Emily, do not induce vomiting, that will only make it worse, your supposed to give them lots of water, and call a vet, that is, if it's even that bad.

Aluewolf15 wrote: No, they wouldn't. Chocolate can be harmfull to ANY dog. It doesn't matter how much they weigh, how big or small they are, how old they are, or what brred they are, any dog can get poisoned if they eat chocolate.
Are you kidding me everything you said DOES matter, except about the breed. It matters how much a dog wieghts, and how old they are. The older dog will react very different then a dog of the same wieght that is younger.
It's a chemical in the chocolate that increases urination, affects the Central nervous system and heart.

No, 'Induce' means force, your supposed to try not to do that.
WhiteWolf is right, it would be worse for different breeds, older dogs, dogs that weigh more and the age.
Also, if your dog has allergies to anything in it.

Exactly. and it's not poison if they eat one drop. I think that the people who said it was poison, ment that you shouldn't feed your dog chocolate as a treat, I'm sure one time it's okay, if it's an accident. But you shouldn't give it chocolate food or anything like that. My neighbors dog used to eat chocolate ice cream, chocolate cookies, smarties, m&m's, anything. And when they went to Mcdonalds, the dog got it's own happy meal. It was a really fat dog.

Still it's not the same because you'r being very vauge. It also depends on the type of chocolate(because different amounts of Theobromine) and how much is given to said dog.
