Well, that's not very nice. :|[/quote]

Hey, I didn't mean it like that. I just can't be bothered to, it is a long story.. I don't have the time to type it all out. I wasn't trying to be mean.

If they had made it into a another sequel I think they would have had to change it and made it more suitable to children.. like you say, it would be too saddening.

Do you have the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dollars it would take to make that happen? Do you think that it's actually realistic (even remotely so) that the Balto Source community could raise that kind of money? Or that they could even coordinate such a Herculean effort?

I don't mean to sound sarcastic (really). But in order to do that, not only would it involve securing necessary licenses and the purchasing of certain legal rights, but insurance, materials, facilities, voice talent, production teams, marketing people, etc. And a studio willing to back it. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. You could not possibly produce an amateur-level movie that would ever reach the theaters, much less be able to be marketed as direct-to-video. That just doesn't happen in the real world. And no matter what anyone says or thinks about themselves or others here...we are ALL amateurs, outside of the auspices of the film industry.

The only problem with doing that would be the critics who'd probably not talk so nicely about the film if it was so dark. Though it would be an incredible film.
...that sounds like an interesting fan project... a short movie on the story of the REAL Balto and what happened...it'd be fun.
I don't think a whole movie is really possible, but a small short film might be a very good idea.

That is like what I meant. a 20 minute movie.

What ending are you talking about? I haven't read the book for a few years now and can't fnd it.

I agree it would make the film too long. It would probably be upsetting for young children too.. seeing Balto tied up and being mistreaten. But even so, maybe this should have been the sequel?

Well, Balto and his team were never technically tied up and mistreated in the dime-a-look museum. At least, history doesn't indicate that. They were hitched to the sled and gang line during display hours of the museum, and (as far as the accounts of Mr. Kimble, the Cleveland businessman who happened upon the museum and found them as they were) in a miserable, neglected state. The room they were in was dark (poorly-lit), and they were confined in either that room (or another) when not on display, being given almost (or no) exercise. A true prison sentence for any dog, let alone a husky.

By the time Kimble's efforts resulted in a rescue, and the dogs were removed from the museum, they were apparently emaciated, sickly, and somber. But they were quickly cleaned up and nursed back to health, and brought back to good spirits, thanks to the citizens of Cleveland and other cities and towns in the United States.

I think for a Balto movie, too saddning. You wouldn't want to see Balto being treated that way in the end, even if there was a real happy ending. It would not have suited the original Balto movie either. That's why I think it was best not to make it one of the sequils. But others may disagree.

Not to argue this point, because I do understand with what you're saying. But is seeing Steele bully and cajole Balto all that much different, really? It's still sad and upsetting to watch. And any kid who's been the victim of a bully could CERTAINLY relate to what Balto is going through in Balto 1...and it might even bring back some painful memories for a person like that (be they still a kid, or perhaps an adult looking back into his or her past).

Well, I think you are right there, but I still believe my point. Seeing Balto in that museum I find would be much more upsetting to me than seeing Steele bully Balto. But people who have been bullyed would feel Balto's pain, but enjoy it more when Balto becomes the hero and Steele the villian. I haven't been bullyed myself though so I cannot say much for this. I really don't know how they would feel, but I do have an idea. But I still stick to my belief, I think it wouldn't be right I think, for a Balto movie.
