Perhaps so. But, as I said to someone in a related post earlier, to make a children's book which twists the facts of an historical event, even under the presumption that "hey, it's just a children's book...it's not as if THEY'RE going to know the difference", to me, is bad. Little kids are smarter than we generally give them credit for. And they remember. Information processed at a very young age IS stored in the memory...and can be tapped later (even through vague recollections). After all, the time when our species does most of its learning and retention is in early childhood.

Seriously this book was probably written by somebody who watched the movie and said "Woot! I wanna write book about it!!"

Still, it was labeled non-fiction? Then somebody got the facts mixed up.......

If it's not a book related to the Universal film version, they have no excuse for telling such inaccurate facts. This IS fictional.

You could be right, they could have seen the movie, done no reasearch and just wrote about the real Balto. But I don't know why someone would write this and how it got published, but I do know that it is nonsense and it is fiction, even if it is labeled 'non-fiction'.

Good ;) It would be interesting to see this book and read it, but if it was up to me, I wouldn't buy it. I know it would be rubbish and there would be no point in having it. But thats only my opinion.

Yah that's true..... but then you could always go through with a yellow highlighter marker and run it over all the mistakes, that would be fun ^^

Tehe, that's probably completely accurrate.

Hey how did this book get past publishers as non-fiction, usually the publisher will check the information to make sure.....

Thats what I am so confused about :? Possibly the publishers didn't know a thing about Balto and just thought, yea, this stuff is true. I'm not really sure.

Hmm check this link out, I think it's related to the book in some way but I have no idea what it is: http://www.broward.k12.fl.us/k12programs/ciss/harcourt/hradocs/G3/3-2-1_Balto_The_Dog_W_739B8.pdf
