I thought the gay fan-fic discussion ended weeks ago, I guess I was wrong.
Every locked topic I have seen has been locked for a good reason, and yes, sometimes they do lock it before a flame breaks out to save the trouble, would you rather waste all your time writing flames towards eachother & then have it locked, or have it locked before the flames. It's most likely going to be locked either way.
I have only seen that happen, maybe 5[?] times. Maybe even less, and it's not like they post in the topic flaming people, they usually just say why they locked it, or something.
Imagine if nobody had the power to lock or delete topics, we would still have the 'What's your phone number' topic, the 'Are you gay or bi?' topic, the topics with videos about people getting murdered, and so on.
Steet has already made the rules about the gay fanfics, and I doubt he's going to change it, why can't people seem to get over that?
Your lucky he's even allowing them on the site at all.

Please, don't flame me for what I'm about to say, or ban me. this is NOT directed to ANYONE on Balto Source. If you think it is, you are absolutely WRONG!
I have to say, Balto Source has just about gone to dogs. (NO pun intended.)

It HAS. You're right...and it's a shame. There is still so much that MOST PEOPLE here have that's good to offer the site. MANY people make positive contributions (though some have taken theirs away).
But there is that issue. And there are a certain percentage of members, who have been here a long time, who seem to believe that EVERY newer member (after a certain unspecified date) is a BAD member, and that "the good old days" are gone, and that they were "so much better". Maybe they WERE...in terms of member interactions. And the small "clubby" aspect. But this site has offered more, in the last several months, of an entertainment and educational aspect, than it's had before.
But there is that issue...

I was one of those people here a long time ago. I had to make a new account due to account problems, and I had steet delete my other one.
I can only say that, back then, there wasn't as many rules, and I am not flaming the rules or anything, but I think the best part was that we didn't really need them, because most people followed all the rules anyway, of course there was a few rule breakers, but not much, and back then, we didn't have any mods. Steet was the only one. We also didn't have to register to get on the main site. One of the main things I miss is RolePlaying. Sure, I do it on the forums, but it sometimes takes people a while to reply, and on the shout box, it was faster, and you could change the plot at any time.
Oh well, I guess we'll have to deal with the new rules..

I agree with Juuchan17 and BaltoSeppala. And IMO mods should be over 16 or 17 years old, why? Because people less than that have no experience with what will happen first, and what later, and what consequences will be. And, what everyone probably notised, yound people cannot refrain themselves from telling what they think. So what I suggest is to find some more experienced mods (don't get me wrong, I can't say anything about paticular mods, because I don't know their age) who have self-control. That's just a suggestion, so don't get me wrong, I'm not ever sure if you already applied.

And you know what's funny? I've been saying that ever since mods started becoming a big problem on this site Just goes to show how people listen to me XD You're how old? And you're realizing this too?

I agree cat, I was suprised when moderators were created here, because we all (I think all) know that Steet is not young child who's playing on the computer as a master of the website where older people are as well, because we can see that on how he solves problems, but when I heard about mods I was suprised that someone "little children" will decide about deleting something or not. ? That's why every time there was an ocation to be a mod, no, I didn't want to join. Why? Because I know I'm not as often on the computer as I might be needed, so I think about cosequences, don't I? If I would decide to be a moderator and come on the computer whenever I want, that's not abiding your duties. That's first reason.
2) Because I don't want to cause problems or misunderstandings, because I know I'm not yet above 17 or 18 and I'm not gonna argue with older than me people, isn't that true?
My opinion is that making youngsters mods isn't wise because that young, unexperienced person feels that he/she have power above older people and that older people cannot do something to him/her. And that young person (unexperienced) may overwork their power.
But I also agree with steet about gay and violence fanfics, because, as we can see, little children are using this site, and even if there are ratings, don't you think that they will not ask their parents and read what they shouldn't? What I think is to avoid giving them a chance to break down their way of thinking and having bad image in their minds all the time, and keep fanfictions which contain stuff like that to ourselves.
What do you think?

I agree, and what is worse, that that silly young people want, and are willing to be a mod. As for the wise young people I'm 100% with you Dingo that there are young wise and responsible people. But I also think that the wise pesron which knows what his/her age is, knows that older people are more experienced than them, and they should show these older people respect (I'm not pointing at you or saying that about you). However, as there are wise and responsible young people, there also are older silly, not thinking people, don't you agree? But, as you said, these people behave like they are much younger, like babies. So, if you are talking to someone like this, do you think he or she is e.g. 18 year-old? No. And the same is with young ones. If you are talking to someone who talks like an adult, do you think he or she is 12 or 13? So, IMO the person who is looking for a mod, can notice how the person behaves.
Now, these are my thoughts. And I'm sorry if my previous comment made you feel bad in some way, because I think wise people should be mods.

Well depends on the persons percinality(not allways age) But there are lots of unger ones on the site who post questions about beaing a moderator, thats beaing inmiture to me. I'm 12 going on 13 and I think I'm pretty miture and is responicble. Dingo for you are doing a good job beaing a fourm Mod and preventing any wars.
