I had the same problem. First off, confront him. Ask him why. If he does tell you, try to think about not only how you would hurt him if you kicked him to the curb, but how your friendship would be affected.
But in the end I thought, my friendship with this guy was WAY more important to me than what I had with my boyfriend. But, I'm not you. So the choice is yours.

To me, my friends are more important that what I have w/ my ex. If you think it's worth losing a friendship over, then by all means go ahead. But if you want to still be friends, reach an agreement.

Sounds very reasonable, though I would sugest keeping the friendship with your best friend because there will be other guys but a best friend is unreplacable.

Well, he's going to be upset either way I think. It's going to be unavoidable. I'm sure you want to stay friends with him, right? So I agree with Panic Wolf. You need to sit down with him and have a long talk about how you feel only 'friendly' with him, and you don't want the relationship you have with you boyfriend to affect what you two have. He's going to be upset since he feels for you, but he should be atleast grateful you two are still close friends.

Maybe it's because you're stelwart and don't easily get nrevous. I can't exactly vouch for that, because I'm nervous all the time.
