Frankly, it made me and all other mateless guys and girls feel depressed.
Well, at least it made me feel depressed.

Hey guys! While I don't beleive that this is the place for that sort of... talk. I do understand (maybe) how these people feel. I myself am involved with a girl that I met over the internet. (we were playing a game). Now, I really do love her, but I am stationed in Okinawa Japan, and she is in the States. Now, that makes it pretty much impossible for us to do anything short of talk on the net. So I'm agreeing that the shout box isn't the place, and dissagreeing with the statement... "if they really love each other they should stop talking on the shout box and go on a date" (or words to that effect.)
Now, whenever I expose a problem, I like to suggest a solution, so here it is. If you're really serious about the whole mate thing, go to http://www.furcadia.com. There you will find a game/chat program that will allow you to do much more than the shout box ever would. Check it out. I'm on there currently, and it is a lot of fun. About three thousand people are on there almost constantly, and they really don't care what you talk about. Oh, did I mention that Furcadia is free? If you decide to go on, look me up sometime. My name is Stevie Nutcheck and I hang out in FURN.
(Oh, and Stevie is a white squirrel)
Have a great day!

Don't get me wrong,I have friends here, but I'm not going to tell them EVERYTHING about me.
Good stand.

that's why I like to use the good old-fashioned technique of swaying the truth.
basically, lie.

Hey guys, I agree that they shouldn't be "mates" on the Shout Box, but as far as saying that they love each other? What kind of world are we in where love is annoying? Love isn't annoying, it's esssential. ...and I used to be in the crowd of people that said that "true love" wasn't possible over the Internet (IM's and Shout Box's for example) but something happened not long ago that changed my mind... I fell in love with someone whom I've only talked to on Yahoo Instant Messager, and I fell hard, as in "would consider meeting each other with marriage in mind" hard... it is possible. While I do agree that they shouldn't be "role-playing" their relationship on the shout box (that's not what it's for) we should NOT restrict them from saying they love each other... what's next? We gonna start speaking German, posting swastica's and waging war on everyone else that doesn't feel the same way about everything that we do? (No offense to any German's out there, I myself trace my family line to Germany) No, I think they should be allowed to say "I love you" or whatever else they want to each other, as long as it's fit for polite conversation and is G rated. Otherwise I have to say we're being too oppresive... I know this isn't the general consenus of this thread, but it's how I feel, and I was raised to tell the truth...
HAVE A GREAT DAY!
